No Colossus? Sheesh.

Not too pleased with this, but I really wanted to post so I threw this together real quick, and I was too lazy to spend a lot of time coloring it, hence the sepia tone. Anyway, I just wanted to capture a real candid moment of Peter people-watching and drawing on a trip to the city. Anyway, enjoy.

This was exactly what I was thinking of when I described what he should wear earlier! Great job! I also notice that you are a contestant in the Project CBRunway, so I will enjoy seeing & competiting against your designs, it will definetly be a challenge.

Thanks. Love that song. Have you seen the video? My friend told me its really creepy.

Yeah, I've seen the video. And it's not at all what I expected. It's kind of "off", but kind of "intersesting". Anyways, the girl in the video don't play! She layed the smackdown on Kanye, and not in a good way!

This is not getting enough praise!!! It's so HANNAH MONTANA ALY AND AJ. If Marvel marketed this, it'd be even MORE popular than Runaways and Spidey <3 MJ with the teen crowd. As lame as we are, some of us really fall hard for this shit. I'd skip out but it's your impeccable sense of MODERN FASHION that really sells it! Not a bland colored t-shirt or a lame grandma cardigan, but rather some true FOREVER21 and AE shit! LOVE IT!

Piotr's an interesting character in that, while he's been around for so long, I don't really know him as a character aside from noble, modest, humble Pete. He's got a million wonderful little "moments" that totally help paint the full picture, but characterization isn't simple paint-by-numbers.

I think Peter's been around long enough in America to lose the basic understanding of English that he seems to grasp. Thus, I imagine he's also been around long enough to discover the beauty of contemporary American fashion. While I think it's easy for him to be drawn to the sophisticated fashion of Club Monaco or Banana Republic, I tootttalllyyy see him as the bohemian, artsy guy that he could be.

I really really really wanted to avoid the color scheme of his costume. How UGLY is that shit, lolol! It was hard not to give him a vest and hot pants and those crazy Russian hats, but I did settle for some AMERICAN APPAREL wear!! Piotr would SO be the anti-sweatshop type guy.

The linework doesn't illustrate fully the windbreaker thermal I based it off of, unfortunately, but it does the job somewhat. Even though he's a big guy, Piotr's totally wearing jeans that FIT HIM, none of that baggy shit. Plus hot converses, which really go with anything, so chill!

I HATE IT UGHGUGHUGHGUHG but it is alright! Mostly focus on MALE ANATOMY! Thanks a lot, Bakla!

I like it. You definitely accurately portrayed his height. You created the illusion of height which is really good, because Piotr cannot be drawn as a short guy. I understand what you mean when you say the color scheme of his costumes. I almost wanted to draw him in something red, and I told myself no. But I really like it. I also like the little 5 o'clock shadow thing you have goin on for him too. And that look in his eye is so piercing! It looks like he's staring right at you!

Decided that I'd try to pull out the stops and color something sorta well, and make more of a fashion design than regular clothes.

So here's my Storm. I'm still keeping it casual, but I can't help but think this is something she'd totally wear in the market, or anywhere. Bandanna, tied back hair, red flats, skinny jeans, and thin shirt.

I really hope you enjoy this one.

Wow I enjoyed that one. Casual and chic. I can totally see her on the street wearing that, plus it looks like she's comfortable on her own skin. The hair was perfect because sometimes us girls don't have time to do our hair 24/7 and its a good way to be low maintenance and chic at the same time. Good observation and well thought of.

I don't know how you did it, but the hair is great! I can't really get my hair textures to look like that. I recently bought a wacom tablet. Wow, I love it ubergeekette! I love the brilliant and vibrant coloring that you did. And the color of her hair is the right shade of red too. Bravo, bravo! It must've taken you forever to color it, because you have intertwining lines in her hair. Everytime I have a broken or intertwining line, the fill paint bucket never fills it in. So it seems like it takes double time just to color it.

I suck at the tablet so far. *Sigh* But I'm still trying. Do you draw the line work first then scan it into your computer, or do you do it all by hand on computer?

ZacharyLovesYou
02-24-2008, 01:21 PM
Sometimes I do all digital, but mostly I draw things out with a blue pencil(so my scanner can't see the lines) and then go over with ink. With the tablet, it'll take a while to get used to 'cause it doesn't track like a mouse, but once you do get used to it, you'll never go back.

Shade101
02-24-2008, 01:32 PM
Do you use a special artists blue pencil, or just any blue pencil?

Just a standard Prisma Color "Bleu Franc" pencil, PC903 seemed to work fine with my scanner.

I now present to you all…COLOSSUS! I’ve been working on him for a couple of days now because I chose to do something different this time. Instead of scanning my linework, and then coloring in the image, I hand drew everything in photoshop without thick black lines to outline the character. It’s a whole new different aspect of my artwork, and the first time I ever tried something like this. I do believe for my first time trying it, it came out really well. I recently bought a Wacom Tablet and couldn’t figure out how to use it. I got frustrated with it at first because it was so foreign and awkward to me. But after days of practicing with it, I finally mastered it! And now I love it! You may not be able to see the details of his hair, but I did a fantastic job on it. I hand drew strands in his hair to make it more realistic. And then added a shine streak on his hair so it could look shiney looking. I told myself I wouldn’t put him in anything red, but I couldn’t resist. I instead opted for a darker shade of red. I put him in khaki pants with dark grayish/brown work boots. I think the boots turned out terrible, but oh well. He was lacking something, so I took reference from the newest issue of Uncanny X-Men, and gave him a one strap back pack. Anyways, this is my first time trying this, and I hope you all like!

It came out pretty well Shades. When you said you were doing it straight to Photoshop, I was a bit scared that it'll come out pixelated or jagged. But it came out great especially the hair which it is texturized pretty well.

I'm working on X-23 and the Blob right now, although I'm combining that and school work, so it may take a day or two to post.

Cool. I'm working on Psylocke right now. I'm having trouble designing something for her to wear, but I'll figure something out. Her hair is looking great by the way. I've added texture and "sheen" to it, to make it look realistic looking. I may be done with it tomorrow as well.

Before I present to you all my newest addition to the X-Men Streetwear thread, I have to tell you all that I'm in very disappointed that you all allowed this thread to even hit page two! It should always be page one! Lol, I'm just kidding with you guys.

Anyways, my next project for the X-Men Streetwear thread was Psylocke! I also used my new technique with her, by drawing her directly into Photoshop and finishing everything else the same way. I would just like to point out to you guys to look at the detail I put into this drawing. Especially the hair once again. I drew strands of hair on her as well, and I just can't help but to brag about it, because I love how it turned out! Anyways, I couldn't think of a color scheme for her outfit, and I had trouble thinking up of something as well. But I figured it out, and decided to dress her in a "club" type of outfit. For this outfit specifically I wanted a more clubbish, and nightlife style outfit that someone like Betsy might wear to the club. She has a freakum dress on, and is ready to do work on the dance floor! I gave her a mini skirt with a shoulderless shirt to accent her shoulders and long legs. If you look closely you'll notice that Betsy has some lace patterns on her skirt with studded leather belt straps on the waistline of the skirt. I wanted buckles here and there, so I also added buckles onto the stiletto high heel boots she is wearing. I gave her a knee length boot because nothing else seemed to look right for the outfit. Thigh highs would've made her look like a hooker and ankle length just didn't seem right. Anyways hope you all like!

Finn man, your styles are off the chizaaain playa!

I decided to get in on this...and seeing as no one did Mr. Da'Costa...I decided to go ahead and give it a shot. I always seen Roberto as the smooth type, and so I decided for a night out on the town, he'd probably choose something like this black silk outfit. I accented it with some silver jewelry, because a "Lord Imperial of the Hellfire Club Young Corporate CEO" always should have some bling. Hope u guys like

Thanks for the comments on Jean and Dazzler! Ankale, shoot more some stuff out, yo! More like your Anole and Emma ones! And Tre, lulz, I want to go to Brasil and party with Hi-Fi and Sunspot!

But first, the lovely Miss Hisako Ichiki!!
http://img257.imageshack.us/img257/9715/hisakoup0.png
I know Hisako has a popular Asian hairstyle but it's not all that common here unless you see it on a person with good taste. She totally rocks those bangs under Cassaday, and I felt she needed a better sense of fashion! Although yellow+Asian+shorts = Jubilee by instinct to most X-Books readers, I wanted to pair it in such a way that this should be what Jubilee should be wearing, but she's too dense to be doing so!

Based off a peice from Stella McCartney's Adidas line (the pose as well, I must admit!), it's a hot, bright hoodie with stylish shorts that are somewhat strange in the way they're fashioned (I can't even explain it, lols!), if you notice the skirt type peice above the legs. Add some hot leg warmers and cute running shoes and you got lovely Hisako, ARMORAHAMA.

my last for the night...

Josh Foley aka Elixir. I think the thing I remember most about Elixir, at least in his early appearances, he was that boy down the street....always ready to go to the court (b-ball that is), so that's what I depicted here. Josh is into sports, and especially basketball, so I put him in some fly blue and gold gear. I tried maaaaaanny different colors before I went with these. I didn't want to use the gold on the outfit, because at first I thought it wouldn't work well with his golden skin, but I think it turned out okay.

You're welcome Tre! I also really love your style. It's very brightly colored and vibrant! I love it! It makes me feel all happy inside and stuff, lol. And I like that you add a hood appeal to your designs. I also go for that in a few of my designs too. Like the Storm in the red dress. It's really dramatic and "pretty", but I added an urban appeal to it, through the use of huge gold hoop earrings. And yes! I'm gonna be in CBRunway. And I also love your Surge pic too. Thought I'd take a stab at mutantdom's premiere couple, Scott Summers & Emma Frost. Scott is the casual, easy sort while Emma always has to have high-style slutty. So Scott's in a cashmere sweatshirt and leather jacket with olive cords and Margiela vintage-style sneakers, while I tried to vary Emma's skin-tight looks a bit: Emma wears a runway top a la Prouenza Schouler that should look somewhat frou-frou, but without the underlying layer it suits her slutty style.... plus double-waistband Balenciaga-esque slacks and strappy wedges.

oh my god, Emma is insanely chic... and now I sound like Michael Kors lol :D

Your are right, it is very Proenza Schouler, love the drapery you did with this.
I feel like it definetly has European themes to it, with the high collar & ruffles. Which is totally something Emma would wear. Best part of it, is it looks like it was plucked straight off the Runway. And by not adding something underneath the jacket, totally took it to that Emma level. Classy but promiscous.

Thanks Butters!
She looks like she got a mix of somethin' in her too.

Thanks, I like the Urban designs, and yeah, I added somethin somethin to Nori, I think I was thinking of Kimora Lee for some reason. Your Storm pic is phenomenal if I must say so myself, and I can't wait to see you on the Runway! You are awesome.

Okay, I have no idea what possessed me to do this considering I cant draw.

I did this in MS Paint & with a mouse (because I have no tablet.)

Anyhow here's a version of Rachel, casual style.

http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i66/Largo01/Rachel-casual.jpg

You'll notice straight up a lot of leather, Rachel loves her leather. I also thought a black, red & gold colour scheme would be cool. Her spandex Dark Phoenix shirt shows off her midriff 'cause Rachel's allways gotta be showing a little skin.

Dont ask what I was thinking with the hair, because I dont even know that :p

Missy Jean all divine. The anatomy is x10 off but that's not the point! Done entirely with a MOUSE, MEYOWWWW. I like the simple look and it's something I saw on Style.com, so it's not ENTIRELY UNIQUE. I really love the texture on the shirt, I finally captured something! I like the monotone hair and blazer, it makes the jeans and accented shirt pop.

I shall return and fix the legs one day, but otherwise I like the way it came out!

Thought I'd take a stab at mutantdom's premiere couple, Scott Summers & Emma Frost. Scott is the casual, easy sort while Emma always has to have high-style slutty. So Scott's in a cashmere sweatshirt and leather jacket with olive cords and Margiela vintage-style sneakers, while I tried to vary Emma's skin-tight looks a bit: Emma wears a runway top a la Prouenza Schouler that should look somewhat frou-frou, but without the underlying layer it suits her slutty style.... plus double-waistband Balenciaga-esque slacks and strappy wedges.

http://designcanteen.com/emmlops.jpg

Scott's nice, but I really don't see Emma as a puffy pirate sleeves kinda woman. Even with the bottom of her tits hanging out. I think Emma would be more likely to arch an eyebrow and say something withering to someone wearing that ensemble than to wear it herself.

Not that I'm knocking it. It's a lovely design and a nice drawing.

Lol, this thread exploded over the last few hours. Love it. Question; should I be resizing my pictures to make them easier to see?

Mitsy those hawaiian shorts are a nice break from all this super style! Lol!

Bakla, I like the casualness of it the most. It's perfect for this thread, I think, even Emma's crazy ruffles. Scott's shoes are hot, though, I totally want them.

I'll just go ahead and ask you where you work, Pryde, lol, since you mention it so frequently.

Thanks for the Jean compliments. I think it is cool that I captured her as both Jed and Chad say. I think that's perfect, when I can draw the character outside of their costume (and without any resemblance to a distinctive face) and it'll still be Jean.

Chad I miss you! CBRunway 3?

Sometimes people just say I draw girls like a bit like Angelina Jolie (big lips, feline eyes, high cheek bones...long hair). I can draw in different styles, but if I'm just messing around or having fun with characters, yes, they do look similar in that cartoon type fashion.

I don't think they look like me and I don't reference myself unless I'm doing a self-portrait or something to that affect.

Anyways, this is my first time trying this, and I hope you all like!

thanks for the compliment. I'll look for references of those characters. The only one I know is Quicksilver. I'm picturing him in a dark suit.

This is for Hi-Fi, since he asked. Rogue in Fall streetwear, just a quick rough... nothing revolutionary, just a tad more earthy and realistic...

This is awesome, hi-fi! I am looking for my old sketch tools in the closet right now.

And this bakla is amazing. Rogue in "Weekend in the Hebrides" luxe fall wear, tall boots, plaid a-line, and lush cashmere turtleneck? swoooon.

I can't believe you still have the link to that one! I'm actually inking it, would you believe? Of course, I do like a panel a month, but maybe I'll update the pages as I go.

Hi-Fi asked me to post again, but since I haven't been reading much lately, I'll post a few older things I had on my blog. :)

Bakla, make one of Storm. First and final warning!

A little (okay, a lot) late, but this is for Shade101: Here's Storm in a streetwear version of her old costume. John Byrne once had her transform her cape into a poncho to cover herself up more when the Xmen were in Japan, and back in Uncanny #97 she had a bell-sleeved mini dress that I always liked, so I decided to update them and combine them into something newer last year:
