Can the X-men please just ignore the rest of the Marvel Universe? I don't want them to have to be a part of this monstrosity.

Hardly. I think it takes more than a cover to "pretty much confirm" anything at Marvel these days. And, Butters, I don't know what you're talking about!? Secret Invasion is going to be bad ass. I liked Messiah Complex, but this will be ten times bigger in terms of scope and consequences!

Hardly confirmed.
It's a cover.

LOL How does that confirm them as skrulls? It's just a cover designed to raise questions and create speculation.
My prediction for the number of X-characters that turn out to be skrulls: 0
The x-universe is always in it's own little pocket removed from the rest of the MU. Mutants will have just as much involvement in Secret Invasion as they did in Civil War.

I don't think it means anything.
Cool cover, though.
And while I was once excited about the prospects for Secret Invasion, the post-Elektra-reveal arc of New Avengers has bored me so much that I'm not even getting the core mini, let alone any tie-ins. In fact, I've dropped New Avengers until it's over, at which time I'll see if I'm interested in picking it back up.

Why would "long live jean grey" say it confirms Emma as a Skrull? Oh, wait...

I guarantee there's at least one.
Not necessarily anyone that'll make a giant splash like a Cyclops or an Emma Frost, but there'll be at least one X-Skrull.

It was more what was said at the top of the last page that made me post this.

I think if anyone X-related is a Skrull it's Wolverine in New Avengers. I know he's been replaced before, but it just makes too much sense.
And possibly Storm as well.

I think you had better go and look up the meaning of confirmed.
I'm pretty hyped for S.I.
Hopefully it dosent turn out to be complete trash like WWH.

Okay, don't scare me like that again. This is hardly any proof. Covers are often misinterpreted. I'm hoping Storm is a skrull so that the marriage to T'Challa never happened. :p

From the article:
IGN Comics: I'd say you definitely could have a "buy me" moment with this cover – it begs for questions to be asked. We have an old school White Queen, the Vision, a retro Spidey, the non-evolved version of Beast and, last but not least, Luke Cage sporting the tiara…
Bendis: Well, I'm no detective… but it seems to me there are characters here that once looked just like this, but have since evolved past. How it could be that they are here, like this, is very curious…
Is it a time machine thing? Or… Hmmm....
IGN Comics: These would have to be Skrulls, right? Why would the Skrulls be sporting looks that definitely give themselves away?
Bendis: Oh, yeah, they absolutely could be Skrulls. Or maybe they are in fact the real McCoy and that would make their modern counterpart a... oh my God!!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I never said I was just talking about the cover. It was also what Bendis said, however, in case someone felt like being a smartie I do realize he could be lying through his teeth. But writers aren't lying every time they give an interview.

Have you ever read an intrview with a comic book writer before?
They always play up, to drive the fans mad...it makes people intrested in the book.
Jayme, nice av, were is it from?

Oh god, please don't revert them (well, I could go for a revert back to ape-Beast, but not the rest). That would kill so much character development, esp. for Emma and Luke. Let's hope this is just one of those cover-doesnt-mean-squat things.

Some of us arent that desperate to have Emma as a Skrull so we actually seen it for what it was.

That cover doesn't confirm anything.
The main theme of Secret Invasion is that the heroes can't trust eachother. What better way to promote mistrust than to introduce doubles of the heroes?

Bendis used the term "The real McCoy"... I think that may lean toward Beast. But then again..i could just be reading too much into it.

Notice that there is another X-Man there. I actually am hoping for a return to Beast's less feline form.

Who's to say them being skrulls will be a bad thing? Nobody even knows if they'll be EVIL skrulls, remember Lyja or whateva? God forbid some skrulls be walkin' around among MUTANTS or whateva.
A good story is supposed to make you feel all sorts of emotions, including anger.

A race of people consisting of less than 300 individuals (half of whom are always trying to kill the other half) that will become extinct in a matter of generations. Adding to that the fact that the rest of the planet hates and fears them. I wonder how much of threat Skrulls see in the mutant population.
If I were a skrull I would be very afraid of mutants especially because one of them once ate a planet full of ugly green aliens. And they weren't even attacking.

They count the X-Men as members of the Superhero population, and would see them being as much as a threat as the Avengers or Fantastic Four are.

Why would a skrull impersonating Beast have him turn into a feline form while infiltrating the X-Men? It doesn't make any sense.
Secret Invasion is just going to be Mephisto v2. An event used to remove continuity that Quesada and co. have decided they don't like.

I figure that cover refers to individuals who will be thought of as potential skrulls not confirmation of anything at all.

It wouldn't. That's why the beast we know isn't a skrull, and the one on the cover IS.

So... this:
http://media.comics.ign.com/media/962/962808/img_5279237.html
has you convinced that all of these characters are actually Skrulls in disguise. All of 'em. Secret Invasion #2. On the bizarre belief that all covers for that mini will reveal who the Skrulls really are. But WAIT!!!! Here's the cover for Secret Invasion #1!!!!!!

Not to mention, this piece of promo art:

Now, we could all just sit and wait to see the story... or take a chance to stake our bets on who is a Skrull and run the risk of looking really, really foolish. Your call.

Agreed. I love the look of it. Busted out from wherever it was the Skrulls were holding them, and ready to kick some greenskinned shapeshifting ass.

Uh yeah no, just because he says something in an interview hardly means it's the truth. Why would he give away who's a skrull in an interview?
It's called teasing to create speculation, hence your thread.

It's obviously not the case, but I think I'd seriously laugh out loud if they revealed Emma is a Skrull. It would be pure comedy.

I like comedy. :)
No one, not even you, long live jean grey, would be happier if Emma turned out to be a Skrull than I would. However, I'm nowhere near that lucky. It's possible DisneyBeast could be, but I just don't see Marvel ending the Freakshow anytime soon.
As for why a Skrull would pose as DisneyBeast, maybe Sage screwed up the Skrull when she did what she did.
