While Warren Worthington III aka Archangel was highlighted in X-Men: Messiah CompleX crossover event, and is playing a role in the current Uncanny X-Men storyline, Marvel Comics is bringing the mutant high-flier back to the days when he was the rich kid on the block, a star athlete and the most popular boy in school.

If this story sounds familiar, well, it is. Last June, we brought you news from the Marvel Mondo Panel at WizardWorld: Philadelphia that writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and former X-Force artist Adam Pollina were working on Angel: Revelations, a five-issue mini-series which was supposed to kick off in November. With the release date of the first issue now slated for May ’08, we caught up with the artist to check on the latest developments.

Looks sexy.

Adam Pollina NEEDS to draw a monthly X-Book. I say Young X-Men.

It's nice that Warren is finally getting some attention, but I'm not feeling the art. I like the darker shades and colours in the first four panels but I'm not too fond of the pencils.

By the way, it's good to see Roberto writing an X-Book again. Cancelling the great Nightcrawler monthly was an injustice made by Marvel.

I wish they'd stop going back to the past with Angel and start doing something with him in the present.

Yeah. Its good to see Warren getting some attention, but I really hate the art there.

Definitely looks like a cool book.

Those pages look really good. Adam Pollina's style has changed so much over the years. It's nice to see that even with a more quirky style his work is still tops.

Seems like it'll be a cool book, but I wish they'd do more with him right now instead of going back to his past.

I love how the art is looking. Warren might be a little too skinny, but I'm definetely digging the style Pollina is using here.

For realz. Do we even know what happened to Husk?

And I'm split about the art. A part of me likes it and another part is like eh. Maybe it will grow on me more.

But I'm glad Angel is getting more attention. I really like him.

She is going to be in the Divided We Stand one-shot, so I guess we will know then.

Has Warren always been from Vermont? i had assumed that he was a New Yorker for some reason.

Weird, I knew I saw this up at Newsarama, but I was only scanning the headlines and thought this had to do with the Buffyverse Angel, lol. Anyway, it's good to hear anything Warren-related. Hopefully this'll help cement him a place in an ongoing instead of in limbo.

|EDIT|After reading the interview and preview pages, I'm even more anxious about getting this book. It's nice to see they're mentioning/building up his athleticism. I guess when you're surrounded by guys that are super-everything, having "just" peak human skills doesn't seem like much. But when you think about it, he should be on par physically, or at least close to, guys like Cap or Batman. Plus, with his lung capacity/efficiency, he'd probably have more endurance to boot.

According to this spotlight, Warren was born in Centerport, NY:

The spotlight also says he went to school in NY, but that scene in the coach's office seems to indicate the school really is in Vermont. Weird. I guess they're tinkering with continuity then?

Sounds interesting, it's nice to see Archangel getting some focus in both the ongoing books and in a mini.

I'll be picking this serie up.

The art might be an acquired taste, but I like it. I see, though, that Sacasa insists on adding supernatural elements to this story as well and I wonder if it's going to be as awkward a fit as it was in the Nightcrawler series. I kind of wish he would just leave it alone.
Will take a peek, at least. It's nice to see different kinds of art in the X-books. It can give a different perspective on the story, Skottie Young on New X-men being the prime example.

It's simple.

Warren can be born in NY. You just have them say his parents sent him to a nice private school in Vermont where he excelled at...everything.

I like it a lot!

Also the story sounds like a lot of fun. I totally second the YOUNG XMEN push, Hiffy.

I'll only buy it if Young Angel is walking around school and accidentally crashes into Young Anaconda, who proceeds to beat him up and threaten his life.

Blanche was totally a bully in high school.

Adam Pollina seems like a really decent fellow. That was pleasing to read, and I look forward to the series. Warren has never really been show-cased for me so perhaps it's due time.

Since it's retro-storytime, I'm hoping Candy Southern pops up in the tale (even briefly), since Warren's been on-and-off dating her throughout his adolescence. I'd like to see her again...and what about Cameron Hodge, he was Warren's college roomate?

The art looks deformed.

Pollina tends to go for the stretched/skinny anorexic body look at bit, but I dig it. I liked his time on X-Force very much (he was one of the better artists the book managed to hold).

This book does look interesting. The art looks neat. It's always good to see various styles and I always love it when we get some different styles on x-related books and characters.

Angel is one of my favs as I love all of the original 5.

I might not buy it but I'll check it out at the comic store.

I wonder if it'll somehow be related with what we heard from Marvel about something from Warren's pasting hunting him?

I thought it might be Bru's doing on Uncanny but this might be it, or maybe they're tied in?

Doubt it. This book's been in the works for years. I think the whole past hunting him thing is in Uncanny. I'm thinking those mutant werewolves or Cameron Hodge.

I have a feeling it's going to be on X-Force. I don't know, Chris Yost said the Purifiers and Bastion are just the tip of the iceberg. Something tells me that tis HUGE thing is somehow connected to Warren.

The Purifiers and Hellfire affiliates seem to be spilling into every core X-book in these dark days (X-Force, X-Factor, Legacy, Young X-Men). It wouldn't be off-base to think that we'll also see this in UXM. Aghhh! They can do whatever they want as long as they don't kill, brainwash, or re-Archangel him.
