Witchblade look interesting to me but I've been waiting for the best time to get into the series. According to an advertisement for #116 a new "era" begins with that issue. My question is, would it be a good issue for a new reader, who's never read Witchblade before, to pick up?
Thanks in advence.

Hi Dougy,
It sure is. Ron Marz is working hard to make this a "ground level" read, which means you'll get all the background you need in the first 3 pages and then can jump into the new story line. We'll be posting a preview in the next few weeks so just be on the look out and you can judge for yourself!
Take care,
Dougy

Thanks filipsablik. I'll keep my eyes open for the preview.
personally, I'd start with one of the Image trades of the first series. they're small (only 2-3 issues each).

don't be fooled by the new era thing...it's a way to make witchblade seem appealing...

So...you're saying it's no good? Hmm...I think I'll get the issue and decide for myself.

Hey Dougy, you can also pick up the new, rebranded Witchblade Vol. 1 trade paperback. It collects Ron Marz's first storyarc on the title from issue #80 - #85. The best part? It's only $4.99. You can pick it up at your LCS or order it from the Top Cow Store HERE (http://topcow.com/store/product.php?productid=1292&cat=31&page=1).

I loved that first arc, but I felt that the quality declined steadily from then on - the "origin" issue (92) was particularly bad.
I finally had to drop it after First Born - which was hard, considering how well this run started. But not even the great art can support such trite storytelling.
