A thought popped into my head today about the baby project in USM, what if it's something big and not just an insignificant story element? What if the robot baby (as IGN called it, (http://comics.ign.com/articles/849/849799p2.html) which is what got my mind going in this direction) was the idea of a villian in order to spy on one of the students (like Kitty) and in doing so it discovers who Spidey is? Am I completely crazy?

no you are not completely crazy that would acually make a good plot especially if the villian turns out to be a new spidey villian.

or, maybe it just something Midtown High wanted to do to see if one of the kid really is Spider-Man.

Long time away from baby = Spider-Man

How do we know IGN didn’t just make a mistake?

If you think you are crazy then what I am about to say will make Insane look like sane:

I think it is:

1) Spiderman's son sent from the future (Since time travel is now officially possible in the UU) by his future wife because Spiderman went mad from the pressure of being an underrated superhero and took over New York, raping and murdering anyone who stands in his way like J. Jonah Jameson. So she hopes sending him back in time will change things somehow. (Peter did have an infant son in Spider-girl called Benjamin Richard Parker). It is insane but you must admit is a fascinating theory.

Or...

2) He is just another Peter clone.

You would expect nothing less than 1 if I was writing it!

And following that logic a little further

Spider-Man as parent = Dead baby haha

By the way that theory I had was based on a dream.

Maybe the baby is supposed to be Ultimate Mayday Parker(aka Spidergirl). The baby thing seems too convoluted if you ask me, I expect Loeb to take your idea and run with it if he ever gets his slimy hands on USM.

Like I said time travel is proven to exist in the ultimate marvel universe so I wouldn’t rule out the possibility that the baby is Spiderman’s future offspring.

So, when actually is this baby project going to end?

It most likely is but with the way Bendis likes to throw in small hints that he uses in a later arc to reveal something bigger there's always the possibility that it's more.

I'm still thinking this is just the school, no big villain.
