So Cyclops call his pal Logan and tell him he wants Mystique dead. Logan is pleased to know, but he says he won't involve X-Force on that one. He's doing it alone.
Logan tracks Raven all the way to Afghanistan where he kills an innocent woman who was smelling like her. Mystique plays her game pretty well and plans all kinds of traps for Logan. At the end, we find out that the Logan who killed the woman was actually Mystique, enraging the natives. They''re now an army against the real Logan.
We also get to see the first time Wolverine and Mystique met. They were both almost being executed in Mexico. Pretty fun situation. I loved it.
This was a great issue. We see Wolverine and Mystique doing what they do best. It's a hunt with the best hunter in town and the best fugitive ever. Entertaining!
BUT...
Wow, Cyclops has really lost it. He nows just calls Logan and point his finger and goes all: "Yeah, now I want this one dead". He's addicted to blood now! I don't see a way back.
AND...
I hope Wolverine informs both Kurt and Rogue of what he's doing. In fact, I think Kurt will appear at the end to try to stop Logan. Just a feeling...

bleh, I need to read more. Nice issue though, I like their first meeting.
I thought Wolverine looked a little silly wandering around Iran and Afganistan in his yellow and blue suit.

Mystique framing Logan is classic Mystique, agreed. They're going to go jihad on Logan's *ss.
I'm intrigued by who Mystique's friends in Kansas City are... Butch and Sundance? The James Gang? Other mutants of that day and age?

Rogue will be pissed! She had dibs on killing Mystique! Oh well, at least she said goodbye.

There's a line, apparently, and she messed up her chance. So of course Wolvie skips the line and does it himself. :D

I haven't bought an issue of Wolverine since Operation: Zero Tolerance (and that was only because Jubilee and the X-Men were in it), but something compels me to pick this arc up. And it was pretty decent (if not quick) read. The art is very nice, and I enjoyed the Raven/Logan flashback. I really hope this doesn't end with Mystique dying, but we'll see.

Wellp, this was my first issue of Wolverine since the House of M and I have to say that it was very enjoyable. I was a fan of tricky mctrickster mystique and all full of that guile we know her for. I am excited for this whole Arc. The quality of wolverine is finally being upped.

It's probably just me, but I found this issue a bit weird. I realize Wolverine is a killer but this issue highlighted how ruthless he can be. From a character perspective it's probably a good thing because cutting things and people isn't "cool" in real life. I'm just not sure I like the character any more. It just never hit home like this before. I'm not an avid Wolverine reader but I've never disliked the character.

It sounds fun. I really don't get why Mystique would be such a target though. I wish she actually did something big to deserve it first.
I was going to pick this up and decided to just get it in trade.

No. That was Mystique setting Logan up. He becomes a target to the locals after that. Read again. :)

You're right. Just did, I missed the bit. Just read X-Force before that. Wasn't really paying attention to art. My mistake. :o Scott was
BTW I thought marvel decided to get rid of those editor notes.

Well betraying the X-men AGAIN and almost killing the Astonishing team with said betrayal certainly warrants a bullseye.

You know for all the years I've read comics I've understand why they didn't go around and just kill every villian. Set the example, I understood that. I agreed with it. But their were villians who kept coming back, kept causing massive damage to them. Over and over and I for the life of me couldn't understand why they didn't just kill them in battle. Why let them keep coming back and harming you? So this is why I understand Scott's position. He's not a bad or immoral man for doing what he's doing, I for one think he's finally doing the right thing.
They gave Mystique that second chance, that third chance and yet every time she's f!@$ed them in the A. Banshee. Forge. Rogue. How many more?
I love this new direction.

That my friends is Batman logic at its best. There comes a time when you just can't allow people to keep coming back.
