Who cares how he looks. The only character that Bruce Campbell, magnificent as he is in the role, can effectively portray is Bruce Campell.
So no.

I wouldn't have thought of it but now that you mention it I could see it.

I love Bruce, but I'd rather see Ron Pearlman.

10-20 years ago maybe he would've been. Not now.

Bull. See Bubba Ho-tep in which he portrays an aged Elvis (or aged Elvis impersonator, depending on your view). It's a hilarious and touching portrayal, and he plays the character, not himself.

It's true, Bruce completely sells the Elvis role... People just seem to want him to play himself.

Hmmm. Comic book fans hate any change to their favorite characters, hate most new characters...and apparanttly don't think actors have range outside their key roles. Good for you, fellers! Reject the new! Ignore the innovative. We are all DEVO, after all.
I'd be happy to see Campbell as Comedian, but I'm sure it's already cast. He does have the body, and I think it really would add that certain creepyness...like at one point this charcter was a fun, nice guy who was corrupted by the world and power.

He's just a bad choice. Not every actor can do any type of movie. He's good in comedies, but would be an ill fit in a drama.
And when exactly was the Comedian a fun, nice guy? Was it when he was an 18 year old rapist?

He was great as Elvis. That scene where he shows his daughter's picture - heartbreaking.

Bruce Campbell is a god amongst men, obviously, but I'm quite happy with Jeffrey Dean Morgan as the Comedian.
EDIT: Which is to say that I wouldn't want The Bruce to play him, but I'm quite happy that Morgan is.

No, he wouldn't fit the part at all. I don't know why people think looking similar to a character automatically makes someone the right choice. The Comedian is an extremely complex character, and Bruce has no experience playing a character like this.

Plus he looks about twenty years too old to play his younger self, while the actor they do have can be prostecically aged to whatever age he needs to be.
