Okay, I am now thouroughly confused. I thought IDW's ongoing 10th Doctor comic book series was being written by Gary Russell with art by Nick Roche?!
Besides that, I thought the Russell/Roche series was supposed to debut in January?
Anybody able to clue me in?

Just some clarification here. It's Shane McCarthy with the Tennant resemblance. He's an old friend and fellow Who fan and when Tennant appeared on the show he got a lot of ribbing from friends (and me) about it. He's presently working on IDW's Transformers and he's the one who introduced me to Chris Ryall at the IDW booth in SDCC. We were talking about possibly doing a Doctor Who story together once he was done with his Transformers arc. A few months later I heard from Chris again, he asked if I would be interested in doing The Forgotten story with Tony Lee after finishing Y (Shane is still working on Transformers and wouldn't be free until later in the year).
The Forgotten arc will appear in July after the Russel/Roche arc which debuts in February I believe.
I'm very excited to be working with Tony, and I'll be sure to let everyone know what actor he reminds me of when I get to meet him in London next month.

And that proves how totally gooned I am from last night. The above post was actually from me. Ian was posting on my laptop earlier.
Ugh.

This is great news. Truth be told, I am not a fan of Roche's art on the current Dr. Who series. He's quite good on The Transformers books, though.

It's a six part arc / mini / Internet splitting extravaganza called DOCTOR WHO: THE FORGOTTEN. It stars the Tenth Doctor and Martha, is set before the end of season three and involved more than one Doctor.
And by that, I'm not on about Martha being a Doctor. Or that they bump into Turk from Scrubs. Or House, M.D.
Although that'd be an interesting episode...
I first spoke to Pia about this almost a year back when I was first speaking to Chris (Ryall) about the possibility of a Doctor Who tale. I mentioned her interest at the time, but it was so far down the line it was almost forgotten by me.
When Pia told me that she was on board, I was ecstatic. Like many people, I was a massive fan on her run during Y The Last Man and might have slightly gushed like a fanboy when I met her at last year's Bristol Expo...
But now I can finally tell people, which is great. And next month both Pia, her lovely husband and myself will be at the Earls Court press launch of the Doctor Who Exhibition where Pia and myself get to have photos taken of us in front of the (real, dammit!) TARDIS.
That alone, is worth it for me!
As for the story? I'm a die hard Doctor Who fan, both old and new. I had letters from both the second and third doctors. I've gotten drunk with the fifth. I've sung Karaoke with John Nathan Turner. I've stood by a Dalek at a book launch and fawned over Terrance Dicks like the second coming. Tennant is my favourite, Tom Baker my previous favourite. As I write this I have my signed copy of 'Who On Earth Is Tom Baker' next to my limited edition signed print of Jane Hudson's 4th Doctor design sketch.
That's not a clue as to who's in the book, by the way.
I'll be faithful to the Doctor Who series both old and new, and I promise that the diehard fan through the ages will find a lot to 'squee' about, while the new series fan will discover new facets to the Doctor that they never knew about.
And I put cash money down on the table right now - now that I can mention Pia being the artist - that there is a double page splash panel in the sixth issue that, when drawn and coloured will be made into wallpaper within hours of being printed, and will be one of the most downloaded wallpapers of all time. :-)
Big words? Hell, I know what the image is, and I'm shivering just thinking about it! Imagine Pia DRAWING it!
Ah, sorry - you'll have to wait and see...

Thank you all for your comments and clarifications! I'll definitely be keeping my eyes peeled for this.
I like Tennant and all the Doctors truth be told but my favorite will forever be Patrick Troughton (After all, he's the one who first made it okay for the Doctor to be a little goofy and silly :D )

Looking forward to everything and anything Doctor Who.
Hey! When are we gonna get a Doctor Who/Star Trek crossover?

Tennant is my favourite, Tom Baker my previous favourite.
Same here. And Martha, hands down, is my favorite companion. Looking forward to seeing her on Torchwood airing soon here in the states.

Have the first issues of these new Doctor Who books come out yet?

We've had two beautifully re-colored issues of "Doctor Who Classics" but the 10th Doctor comic book series hasn't come out yet. Supposedly sometime this month.

I'm very relieved to find this thread. :D Just last week I was searching these forums for anything Who-related. My local comic shop is so very tired of hearing me ask about the book (which, according to ads in other IDW comics, was supposed to release in January). I was worried that it had been scrapped before it had a chance. :o
Thanks for all the info guys! I'm really looking forward to this.

Thanx, I colored those. :)
I also colored a lot of the first series of the new stuff and so far the first two covers of Forgotten. You should keep seeing my colors on more Doctor Who stuff too. Right now I'm coloring the Who stuff almost exclusively.
