Iīm like most people, pissed off that everything turns into a stupid marriage argument, like one group is right-er then the other,so letīs just call it a truce, and get over it.
i like the way its going? good MY PROBLEM stop whining to me,why i shouldnt be liking it.there is no reason to discredit ones opnion becouse of it or put his age into the matter.
you dont like the way its going ? good YOUR PROBLEM,not my bussiness to try to make you see how good it is/could be.there is no reason to call names,or try to reason someone to not drop the book if they desire so,its their money.
so lets avoid all that, you may still post your opnions, after all this is a forum, and im not a censor,im not even a mod !!
just trying to get people to reason and stop the bickering between who could possible be friends in other subjects becouse of a stupid COMIC BOOK !! .
and i apologize for any offense i done before,so truce ?

While your at it ask for the End of the bickering over the CW and world hunger.:D
Too many people have strong feelings about Spider-man to let it lie.
And too much Snark has passed both ways for the discussion to be very civil.
talk of whining fanboys and Kool-aid have made this subject, and Spider-man a fairly toxic topic.
Is funny but the political discussions on this board are more polite that the Comic ones.
The disputes are going to remain very fresh for some time, but yeah, the low blows on both sides have been ruthless. Not entirely needless, because some people WILL be adolescent and snarky, but down right harsh nonetheless
What needs to stop is this "true Spider-Man" bollocks, that is major fuel to the fire...and the insults directed to marraige as a problem also. It's not as bad as Newsarama's posters on the subject, but for people who ARE married, we dont like hearing the term "ball and chain". Women are not that, and to even begin to describe how my wife, who I've known since I was a teenager, is a star, an influence, a beacon, would be an injustice to prolouge.
The only positive thing I can say at this juncture is that this DIDNT happen in 1999, and Marvel is at this stage, a much more diverse place. Where the term "mainstream canon" is used often too much as a definitive stamp when not even that can stick to a status quoe on a universal scale when the next big event runs it's course.
People complain about BND, including me, but I have no idea if the universe I'm reading is truley 616, or Wanda still hiccuping...and she hasnt recovered yet for a reason. This isnt over, and in the long run, nothing is clear until the witch lady sings. Until then, people should be aware of what other fans can see possibly coming, and accept any and all possibilities. Retcons of retcons not withstanding.

The rama tends to let the trolls run wild.
of course we would ridicule them and post pics of Bruce Campbell on their rambling threads, so it evens out in the long run

While I don't like what happened or how it happened, I'm not going to sit around all day trying to convince people about what I like. I won't buy it till MJ/Pete are back together but if you like Brand New Day, then go ahead and buy what you like. It's simple. Don't like it, don't buy it, don't complain. If you want to complain, send Marvel a wedding cake or letters; they liked the Wendell Vaughn cake. :)

I think letting it die seems a little ridiculous. I would say that people need to hold back in the other threads though. EVERY single thread on here eventually turns into a battle about it though. Sean seems to be on vacation or something. I think we just need some more delegating. If you want to complain I'm all for it; heck a lot of the time I do as well. Just leave it for the threads it is meant for.

I'm not buying it, but I don't see why I can't complain since that's what comic fans tend to do best. I'll stop complaining about BND when everyone else stops complaining about every other facet of comics, including the state of the industry, certain writers and sweeping plot lines. Sound fair?
Also, how come people never send ME cakes when they're unhappy with me? I like cake.

I'm with you. I would say that the idiots in this case are those who complain and still buying. And before you say anything, I was one of them with JMS' run.

At least here the fighting is just over a character marriage. Over on the Avengers side the moral questions are about terrorism, fascism, murder, gulags and slavery.
This like Nova's view of the Civil War is just a little skirmish among friends.

Don't forget the whole "real Avengers" and the "must bash Bendis."

I don't care if he is single or married so long as the writing and stories are good. But what they have done with Brand New Day is dumbed down the writing to a 3rd grade level. They obviously are trying to imitate the Stan Lee era of Spiderman but are doing a piss poor job of it because that kind of writing doesn't work well in the decompressed storytelling age we have now (two pages of Spidey singing his theme song is just dumb - in the Stan Lee era this would have been one panel on one page). Add to that the fact that Peter has seemingly lost 10 years of maturity as well and its just gets bad.
Say what you want about the JMS era but the writing was always excellent. That doesn't mean the storyline was always great but even the bad stories (Sins Past or The Other) were written well in that you still felt like you were reading Spiderman. I've got no clue who this Brand New Day Spiderman and frankly I'm really beginning to not care because the abrupt change in style is so jarring and so juvenile that I'm really starting to hate it.
I told myself I'd give it to the end of the Guggenheim arc before making a final decision. But the score was already 35-0 in favor of quitting after the Slott arc and now after the first issue of Guggenheim the score has increased to 42-3 (this issue at least was slightly better than the completely horrendous Slott arc).

Yay! Get rid of Mary Jane!
Bring back Ben Reilly!
Superman was better with mullet-hair and electric powers!
Sins Past was the best comic evar!
Bring back "Cop Rock"!
We can get along just fine. As long as the anti-marriage crowd stops trumpeting how there was no potential in married spidey, when he'd been married for 20 years and aged, what, nothing?
Superman was better with mullet-hair

While I want to rip into the BND buyers, I don't think it's constructive to turn every thread into that.

I'm anti "everything I've ever read since I started reading Spider-Man didn't actually happen, or happened in a completely different way then I had been reading for the last X years, and Marvel is trying to insult my intelligence while making me start completely over again, which I have no desire to do."
In the end, if BND succeeds, it's the fans that lose. Because then we're telling Quesada and Marvel that it's okay to treat us like morons, because we'll still be good little lemmings and buy whatever crap they shovel down our throats.
If you honestly are for a single Spider-Man and the changes that BND brings with it, that's fine. But if you hate OMD and feel insulted and still buy BND, you're the problem. Nobody has any freakin' self-control anymore.

Shade,
It's not that simple, it's like looking at a car wreck, I just can't stop myself:) I mean the first issue of BND and we bring back the tablet. Okay, eveyone who actually had read about the tablet before BND, saw the tablet, and said, "oh crap" (or something to that effect) raise your hand.
Seriously, I've quit before. Over the parents and stayed away because of the clone and the exlposion, and the seperation. I stayed away until this summer, because I thought they had fixed everything, and spidey was exciting again. A little dark, but his aunt had been shot, not like that spell in the 90s where he was dark just to be dark. I wanted to quit again, but something doesn't seem right about this. I can't point to a page, or a piece of dialogue, but there seems to be no way this is going to stay. Maybe I'm wrong and I am part of the problem, but it seems to incredelous, even for comic books.

Bring back Ben Reilly!
Call me a heathen but I wouldn't mind him & his Scarlet Spider identity to co-exist in the same universe as a completely different character not messed up with the whole WHO'S THE REAL ONE premise.
Wait, crap. This was supposed to be about the marriage... <_< >_>

How about having her with another guy, but still around in Peter's life. Hell they should have her date a guy thats a super-villian, but she doesn't know it. That'll make the relationship more interesting.

Ha, I can see it now: MJ/Jackpot is dating Harry/Goblin while Peter/Spidey is dating Felicia/Black Cat and everyone is jealous of everyone else...

The Swing Shift manfiesto for the new direction speicifies MJ should have a fiance, but only a fiance, so that there's an obstruction in the way. If she's Jackpot, the fiance is likely Bluesheild and is/or a cover for her civilian identity to keep people she loves from getting too close.
Right. I've had to bump this up again, because the truce is flatlining (predictably), I've already allowed Matt to get to me (which I thought wouldnt happen since the last few weeks have been good) DeadmanX is being a prick, and generally others just arent learning anything.
Stick all the heated comments in here, otherwise we're going around in circles. Neither side is backing down.

Both sides think they are right. Why would you expect someone to back down if they think they are right. There is still argument going on over it the CW topics and the rhetoric there is far harsher. Marvel wants us fighting each other to build buzz, all the hate is what they intended to create.
