I don't see what is so insane about that one. Allan Moore referenced that story in his "Whatever happened to the man of tomorrow?" classic.

Hmm.. no idea.
But the final issue had a couple of Hoojibs on the cover and was QUITE embarrassing to look at. Nice blouse, Lando!

One of the best collections of INSANE covers I've seen is at SuperDickery.com--the site which "proves" that Superman can be a real Dick.
Here's a sampling (there are a LOT more):
The cast baby-fied seems like a theme.
http://www.superdickery.com/images/other/1296_4_057.jpghttp://www.superdickery.com/images/other/1296_4_032.jpghttp://www.superdickery.com/images/other/1296_4_010.jpghttp://www.superdickery.com/images/other/1296_4_003.jpg
That first cover is particularly hilarious I think, between Lois' 'tude and Baby Superman's thought bubbled reaction.

EVEN MORE I FOUND AT SUPERDICKERY. These are more "pervy" than "weird".
Cher borrowed this image eventually for one of her videos!

It's just... the TITLE. Just read the TITLE:
http://www.superdickery.com/images/other/gsmanthing5.jpg
I'll just use Superdickery's own comment on this one, because I couldn't do it better:
They say: " If someone were to Photoshop in some different dialog, this could be the most wrong cover ever."

So... on all those "Super-Baby" stories...
Are we supposed to assume that Baby Supes is potty-trained, or can we guess that, when he returns to normal, Lois is occasionally going to drop veiled jabs at how cute his little bitty Super-Junk was?

On the World's Finest Cover...
That's not Superman, that's someone pretending to be his formerly sickly half-brother, Kon-El. (I think it was Kon-El.) The setup is that the 'new' Kryptonian claimed to be Superman's brother but Superman kept him the equivalent of chained in a basement (stuck in an asteroid, I think.) Once the newcomer told the story, Kon became the big hero and then Superman became the disgrace.
And then Kon started taking over.
Batman, of course, solves the mystery, which seems to depend on knowing that Kon-El criminal partner loves the color 'mauve.'
And Kon-El is a fake, too, I think.
Crack-tastically good stuff. I used to own it.

They're Hoojibs (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Hoojib) of course, not rabbits (I don't know, bloody heathens!) ;)
Of course, Han & Chewbacca once fought along side a 6-foot tall green alien rabbit called Jaxxon (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Jaxxon). That's him in the bottom right corner of this cover...

Okay... so... off topic, an' all...
But Dollman Monday. (http://arflovers.com/Blog/?cat=4) led me to Wacky Wonder Woman Wednesday (http://arflovers.com/Blog/?cat=3)(some of which is NSFW), which led me to this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQ_zModF-RI&eurl=http://arflovers.com/Blog/?cat=3)...
