It's called king cake. Whoever gets the surprise Baby Jesus has to buy next year's cake. I didn't get any this year, either, as I have been home this week - and will continue to be - with the kid, who has a nasty case of strep. Whee!

And Pink, I don't have to bare it and share it. I once walked down Bourbon St in a strapless dress and people threw beads at me. And it wasn't even Mardi Gras!

The cream cheese filled variety is the bestest! King Cake is a bit dry, very much like a danish. Without lots of frosting and a good filling, you'd just about have to dunk it in coffee to make it edible.

I know! I'll go tomorrow and get a day-old one that's half price, because it's not Mardi Gras any more!

I always loved those episodes, because some years the cops were fairly lenient and some years they wouldn't put up with anything, and get pissed with the people who think they can do whatever they want. "But dude, it's Mardi Gras!" as the fellow is handcuffed with his pants down.

I bring Semla. A sweet bread, filled with something... sweet, topped with whipped cream, another piece of sweet bread and powdered sugar.

Most eat it as is, but I microwave mine and pour on more powdered sugar for that extra extra gooey sweet sugarrush. :D
