View Full Version : Ultimatum - theories!

I have been going crazy wondering what ultimatum could be and I came up with a fun idea.
Maybe the ultimatum would be the decision whether or not to go back in time and stop bishop coming at all? I don't know how this could be played out, maybe Apocalypse could be defeated by the X-Men, as bishop and cable had trained them for it and with a last burst of power Apocalypse could tempt Allison, saying he could send her back in time to save Angel but the only way would be for her to stop (or even kill) bishop.
On doing so the universe can pick up before it went weird and an Apocalypse arc could commence where they don't defeat him straight away!

Anymore ideas?

I find that highly unlikely. The seeds of Ultimatum have been planted.

We know there's supposed to be some connection between Captain America, Spider-Man, and the X-Men. Considering Captain America and Spider-Man were both the results of attempts to make Super Soldiers... I'm thinking that mutants arn't a natural thing in the Ultimate Universe. Perhaps they're an unexpected element that was an out-growth of the attempts to create Super Soldiers. Plus we also have that dangling Legacy Virus plot.

Given the constant hints by Loeb and company as to the end of Ultimate Power, Nick fury has got to play a hand this. i still think he's responsible for killing scarlet witch and he will probably usher the ultimatum against the heroes and mutants.

I'm sure Wendell Vaughn and Project: Pegasus will play a part in Ultimatum.

Could it be that Ultron is the one giving Nick Fury Orders ???

Knowing Loeb, $100,000 USD says Nick Fury issues the Ultimatum.

Either him or Magneto or (ESPECIALLY knowing Loeb) someone like.... Wolverine *shakes head*.

And probably not even Ultimate Wolverine. The 616 one.

The big Ultimatum's already been and gone. Marvel telling Kirkman to get good or get out. And it's clear which one he chose.

it reminds of back in the early days of Ultimate Marvel when Mark Millar said once you see 616 characters cross-over, the line will end.

But seriously, here's my ultimate Ultimatum Theory: it's an overhyped supossed "apocalyptic" event that may or may not (definitely not, cause no one at Marvel has the balls to do it) destroy the Ultimate Universe.

In other words: waste of time/money, and it will suck.

Cheers mates, lets all get ripped on stupidity!:p

I think it was said that almost EVERYTHING in the Ultimate universe has a connnection to one or both of the following:

1: Nick Fury

2: The Super Soldier Serum

With that being said, this Ultimatum arc, whatever it is...HAS to have Fury as a focal point. I'm thinking it'll be heavy on mutants too.

1. When does Ultimatium start?

2. Is this going to be a mini series? or just switch between issues of UXM & UFF?

3. Whos the creative team?

1. Beginning May 2008.

2. "Ultimatum is a six part "mini-crossover" that starts next year which will -- and i know we've heard this a million times -- change the Ultimate Universe forever. Really. Forever, kids." Quipped Loeb. Ultimate A crossover event that will run through Ultimate X-Men #94 - #96 and Ultimate Fantastic Four #54 56."

3. "Jeph Loeb comes in to shake things up with Ultimatum with artist David Finch."

Psh. Well, f*** Millar then. Ultimate Power was really cool (for about a minute... but still, that was a sweet ass crossover).

I believe that's changed somewhat. Since the Heroes writer is handling Ultimate X-Men from #94-#97. Which means Ultimatum and the likely cancellation of Ultimate X-Men will run through #98-#100. :)

I'm glad its ending at 100 at least. Nice number to end on.

I rememder Grant Morrison doing an interview in Wizard once I think and he had an idea that would explain connections between cheracters etc. The reporter said the idea was brilliant and did not enter it into the issue because it was so good he didn't want to ruin Morrison's chances of telling the story once his contract with DC was over. Just wondering if this story will ever see the light of day, I'd have Morrison running the Ultimate universe over Loeb any day.

Yeah, I agree with Last_Avenger, it seems so unlikely that they'll make such a big change and end the titles altogether. It seems like it's just a MAJOR publicity stunt to get two books that are selling averagely into the type of numbers they used to have.

I can't imagine how UXM and UFF (subject-wise) can have such a major event that relates to both teams, they've only really had the Mad Thinker mini so far... My personal, but slightly ludicrous, theory was that Apocalypse and Thanos had been Ultimatised one and the same.

But no doubt it's Fury, Doom and Magneto telling both teams to give them New York and then both teams kick some ass and the dialogue sucks and blah blah blah, Ultimate Power II ends.

I heard in an article somewhere that it involve Reed Richards and Magneto. Sounds more grounded, and awsome. But then... Loeb.

Or Wolverine and Cap wake up to find Kirkman's X Men and Loeb's Ultimates have been some sort of nasty fever dream. But this being Ultimate Marvel they wake up in the same king sized bed.

'I love you Bub'

'I'm an old fashioned guy James. Now we tie the knot or it's over...'

Now that's an Ultimatum.

I just sprayed coke out of my nose. Therefore I hate you, Ramirez. (joking)
And before I get any smart-alec comment about "your'e supposed to snort cocaine, not spray it out your nose" just let it be known I relly mean coke; the soda, not coke; smuggled from Columbia in a peasants stomach. I once got someone to snort the soda kind in detention.
So yeah. That burns. Like all kinds of hell. Y'know the bad ones, not where all the entertaining people live, just perverts and timid accountants who snap and kill their wives.

Perhaps Aunt May will get shot and Pete will be given an ultimatum about getting her back at the cost of losing MJ and then we'll see Harry brought back...

Wouldn't surprise me at this stage (from Loeb of course, seems Bendis has a pretty good sense of rationality).

Ultimate One More Day would be fun. Marvel can afford to poke fun at it, and it'd cement US as a "definitive Spidey" in a mainstream sense if he refused the offer and it turns out "Ultimate Mephisto" was just some loser student actor playing with him to keep his mind off a relative that's dying in the same hospital, and May recovers from the wound.

Anyone knows what will be up with the Ultimate timeline? USM is set in the summertime currently and already Ultimates is set in the winter, and Ultimatum is set even further in the future to all this. Also it seems that UXM and UFF aren't in the winter time, so will there be a timeskip for these comics?

I think the Ultimatum will be a huge crossover that has every character shown, with a major battle. The whole series will be explained in the last issue, in a crappy way that is just lame.

All I know is that Loeb said that Ultimates 3 is set 1 year after Ultimates 2. So, if that book might be taking place in the future of the other books. But I don't know for sure.
