I'm thinking that you're not in a Gundam on this ride, but rather you're in one of those escape pods, caught in the middle of a massive battle and being flung around as the good guys try and haul you to safety. I'm guessing that prior to this you go through a whole "evacuation" routine while you stand in line, where the theme is that you're being shuffled into the evac pods just before the Zeon blow your ship/station to itty-bitty bits.

It's hard to tell, but it looks like cam footage of one of those theme park rides that sits about 50 people at a time, and flings you about a bit while the action on the screen reinforces the sensations of the ride. Looks like a lot of fun, too. I bet the lead-in and out for this involves some awesome set pieces.
