View Full Version : OPERATION: Assign Side-kicks

something that DC is known for but Marvel (traditionally) is missing are sidekicks. to rectify this, i thought i'd ask the board to hook up the A- or B-list superheroes with their very own sidekick/trainee hero. but there are 2 rules: 1) the sidekick hero has to be an existing one (from the Initiative or elsewhere) and 2) only one trainee per hero

why did you pair up the 2 heroes you paired up? i'll post mine, shortly.

i really like the last one. seems natural; circle of life stuff. as for Spider-man, i'd rather see him whip Ricochet into shape.

I've always liked Black Cat being Spidey's side kick (though Jack Pot potentially works in kind of the same way).

I actually like that idea more than mine, but would you keep him as Ricochet or give him a new more "Spidery" alias?

Yeh but DC's sidekicks are all legacy characters. In a way DC are smart in that it sets them up to eventually replace their mentor, but on the other hand, you end up with too many legacy characters, seeing as the original is too popular to ever be killed off or step down (case in point: Batman).

plus neither felicia nor Jackpot are teenagers, and adult sidekicks are kinda stupid (in my opinion). Why play second fiddle to someone if you have nothing to learn?

hard to say. i don't necessarily think sidekicks need to copy their partners. Spider-man kind of invented the Ricochet look and name anyways.

I'm not a huge believer in legacy characters, since most of the time the originals don't die. I don't ever see Peter Parker dying, so I guess the idea of him grooming a replacement seems almost redundent.

Though Cap died and was replaced by his legacy character, so I guess ya never know.

I actually thought adult partners kind of make more sense since I always had trouble seeing heroes justify putting young teenagers in combat situations.

But anyways... if I have to choose a teenage side kick to act as a legacy character for Peter, I guess I'd go with Arana.

If he was still considered a "teenage" hero I'd loved to have seen

Daredevil and Darkhawk. It doesn't make a ton of sense, but I think it would have been awesome.

it doesn't have to be a 'teenage' hero; just someone who other heroes would consider a rookie or in-need-of-training. Chris counts, imo.

Taskmaster - Prodigy

interesting

Thing and Rockslide
Wolverine and Armor
Doctor Strange and Pixie
Black Panther and Gentle
The Lizard and Komodo/Anole

those are good ones. i'm not sure that Doctor Connors would have much instruction to give to komodo, since she actually improved his formula.

Wolverine and Patriot: the chemistry would be great as Patriot, who does not always feel very patriotic, gets on Wolvie's case about all the violence.

Herc and Cho: It is working really so far.

Iron Man and Hellion: Both are arrogant but kind at heart.

BP and Hawkeyes (YA): His cool smooth nature and her boisterous personality would make for funny comics.

Ares and Dust: The joy of war meets the conscience.

Wasp and Monet: They would have great shopping trips.

Spiderman and Chase: Both feel guilty about love ones dying.

Ms. Marvel and Gavin: His overeager ways when contrasted with her more thoughtful approach would be funny. Same with Reed Richards and Molly, but reversed.

Rictor and Victor: Rictor wishes he had his mutant power and Victor wished he could be human.
Gauntlet and Pixie: Nothing more needs to be said.

Ant Man and Stature

Which Ant-Man? If you are talking about the current one, O'Grady, that would be horrible. Mostly since O'Grady made of her father, Scott. Then if you are talking about Pym, that wouldn't be so bad.

Bucky and Patriot

professor x and juggernaut. seriously if they could get a legit reason to put these 2 together, i say go for it. they have a history together they could add on (they're stepbrothers) or reference to. lighten ol chuck's stiff ass up a bit, and this would be a comedic pair a la pinky and the brain.
