Why does he have webs under his arms? And are there any more images with this costume?

It's an off and on part of the design, varying in sizes depending artist, being completely removed by others.

They're there just because, completely useless part of the costume.

So he can't fly with them? :( Oh well

Radioactive spider blood gives him really hairy armpits. Don't mention them, he's very sensitve.

I think I like those webs at times, but only if they are small. Those Ditko pencils were never what I like though...

I like them. I loved that McNiven drew them in his issues. First time I'd seen them in awhile.

I think those underarm webs were supposed to be there to help him glide a bit while web-slinging, but I can't sure...

As for more images, check any Ditko issue of Amazing Spider-Man - you'll find them in abundance.

Yeah I don't mind McNiven drawing them.

This question pops up all the time. They are most definitily just a stylistic approach by diffrent artists. I have even been half way through an issue and suddenly they appear or dissapear. It seems like more of a contemporary thing to leave them off entirely though. I feel like every pre-1985 issue has them and then from then on its spotty.

Those are magic anti-marriage webs. They were retconned by magic to retcon magic into smaller magic that can be retconned and then turned into dozens of glorious chocolate pies that help the Marvel EIC stave off starvation.

Look, it's magic...you don't have to explain it! Remember?

Isn't the official story as to why the underarm webs are there sometimes but not others down to the fact that they're gossamer thin and only visible when the light catches them in a certain way?

I think that was Stan Lee's explanation back in the Silver Age anyway.

ASM 546 last page we see them here. I've never really liked or disliked them as long as they don't look silly I'm good with whatever.

JRjr used to draw them.

Bagley used to draw them back when he was on Amazing as well. He was kind of inconsistent about it though. They'd appear in one issue and be gone the next, or, like Sonicjuce said, they'd be in some panels but not others in the span of one comic.

Personally, I don't care about them either way. Take em or leave, it's all the same to me.

I like them.

Unique looking, really cool in sillouette pieces and an original part of the Ditko costume design. I don't like when they are omitted, but I won't drop a book if he isn't drawn with them, lol!

JRJR always draws them and he's my fave artist!

Ah, but you see, they were still together, they just weren't married - so everything happened just as it did before, only with the absence of a wedding ring.

So the underarm webs should still be gone ;)

wrong.....it was after venom, and so far i have no inclination to believe venom still exists......FOR NOW ! maybe they will " bring him back" in that simbionte invasion thing.
