I'd recommend Superman vol. 1: I was amazed how those goofy tales from the late '50s were so clever, funny and entertaining. As many high points as it may have - Brainiac, Metallo, Bizarro, Supergirl all make their first appearences here - it's the mundane stories that I remember best, where Superman has to come up with original ways of protecting his identity, make creative uses of his powers instead of just hitting things, and the bizarre situations he gets mixed up in, like visiting a town that hates Superman or doing military service like an average citizen. It's just wacky fun!

Because i've both GL and Supes showcase vol.1, I'm reading the former while the latter is still in my library. If you'll suggesty me I'll also buy the second.

Read Vol. 1 first. If you like that, pick up vols. 2 & 3.

I've enjoyed the Legion of Super Heroes volume. I found it worthwhile especially considering all the new things happening with the Legion lately and the various stories (like the JLA/JSA Lightning Saga) that harken back to the old Legion stories. I understand Volume 2 will be coming out in the near future.

I have Elongated Man, Adam Strange, Green Lantern, Green Arrow, volume 2 of JLA, and Teen Titans. All of them volume 1 save for JLA, obviously.

Out of those listed, Shazam and LoSH interest me the most.

I've found that all of the heroes in the Showcase books I have all act the same; they've all got the same wholesome, benign, altruistic personalities. I have a feeling that Shazam will have some crazy stories, and LoSH has always been a favorite of mine.

Weren't they going to reprint the old Who's Who (and updates) from the 80s in 2 Showcase volumes? I seem to remember an article about it a while back, but haven't seen any solicitations.

It's been delayed because preparing it for black and white reproduction is a lot harder than DC expected.
