View Full Version : My idea for an Ultimates story

What I think would be a really interesting story would be that of Ultimate Kang. I would play him kind of like Biff in Back to the Future II. Kang would be his last name. He wouldn't be from the future, he would be from maybe 40 or so years in the future - leave it open to the idea that he is alive at this time as his younger self. I'm not sure what I would do for his first name. Instead of coming back to the past and bringing armies, etc. he comes back and uses his knowledge of the future to manipulate the stock market, maybe bring a piece of technology that revolutionizes the world that he makes obscene amounts of money with. his goal is to take over the world but he is doing it in a systematic fashion by controlling the worlds money - maybe a power play for Stark Enterprises, taking over SHIELD contracts, getting scientists from the baxter building to defect to him, etc. Basically as a semi bloodless war. It would be a giant game of chess.

I would also play it similar to Ultimates vol 1 and 2 where we weren't sure if Kang really is from the future or just delusionally brilliant because he believes he is and he "created" this technology that is advanced beyond anything currently on earth.

He will have a small group of shock troops designed to deal with the super human population as he sees them as an unpredictable threat. They will have advances technology from the future. I would call them the Masters, as a nod to the Masters of Evil, but in the real world, few believe themselves to be evil. I would use this to introduce a bunch of Avengers villians like Klaw, Graviton, the Grim Reaper, the Taskmaster, etc. Maybe even some heroes like Wonder Man, Songbird. Kang would be also be the Scarlet Centurion and would be the leader of the Masters. This could also lead into crossovers with other Ultimate books as other characters from the rogues galleries of the different heroes in the Ultimate U could appear and be created by Kang and be tasked with eliminating said heroes.

He would also utilize his massive resources to launch a PR campaign to make the Masters the new premier super team, while also disgracing the Ultimates and making them appear to the public as the bad guys. Maybe use Taskmaster to frame a few of them for crimes by imitating their fighting moves (cap/hawkeye/Black Panther). Tony Stark would go into a deeper spiral with the corporate take over of his company.

About halfway through the arc i would have someone (maybe Vance Astrovik as Justice, as a nod to the Guardians of the Galaxy and the future) travel back in time to try to stop Kang. This is the first time that the Ultimates realize what is really going on. Up until this point, they just thought that Kang was this corporate power broker who was asserting himself, and that the Masters were actually a separate entity. They organize a strategic assault on Kang. A surgical strike with members like Cap, Wasp, Black Panther, Hawkeye, while the big guns take on the Masters to occupy them.

At the same time Nick Fury goes on a hunt to find Kang as a child because he believes that he can neutralize him, then he can alter the timeline and this won't happen. Fury finds the kid but he is being protected (unknowingly) by someone - not sure who yet, maybe the Sentry or something like that. (maybe I'll have kid Kang be a student at Midtown High, which is always fun because I could bring in Spider-Man and his relationship with Fury is great. could lead to a huge misunderstanding.)

The Avengers defeat the Masters. Kang is also defeated maybe using some temporal displacement technology or something. could have Justice sacrifice himself to get it to work. Kang is lost to the time stream. The Masters are defeated, Ultimates exhonerated and their public image returned. Some of the Masters, who were based on 616 heroes realize what happened and realize they were on the wrong side - defect to the Ultimates. Others are sent to prison, etc. Kid Kang is taken by Fury and locked away in the Triskelion or something, never to be released, but its not like he can really be killed since he hasn't done anything yet. The last scene is of kid kang in his cell and someone appears. It is an aged version of Kang and he calls himself Immortus, and he offers to get kid Kang out of jail. Kid kang accepts and they disappear. End.

Thoughts.

Sounds like a good ultimization of many of those characters. Although, I thought that the villian team in Ult. 2 were the masters of evil, but were just never called that?

I think thats pretty good stuff, but perhaps drop the time-travel. I mean, look at Kirkman. LOOK AT HIM!!!

Totally agree. Just say no to Kirkman.

Anyone got any ideas for the return of the Hellfire club. I'm dying to read that story.

Better Kirkman than Loeb.

And that's saying something. ;)

It's good, but it's kind of hard for Kang to think superhumans are unpredictable because he comes from the future so...he would...you know...be aware of all this. And then for him to hire a team full of unpredictable elements seems a bit...i don't either hypocritical or exactly what the doctor ordered.

But as for the ending...easy, dude. Line it up so that Kang is going to win. Then, the leader of Immortus Inc., who bares a striking resemblance to Kang, comes back to the present (having already become as stinking filthy rich as he wanted to) and fixes the world so that it won't be come the giant global monopoly it is in the future. Kind of like the Scrooge parable. You know, a much older Kang realizes the err of his ways and comes back to prevent himself from ever making the mistake.

And just for symmetry could invest his future riches in a trust for fund for his younger self so he won't feel compelled to become Kang in the future (Immortus's past).

Confusing yes, but the best loophole and logical ending, in this fanboy's opinion.

I have an idea. Instead of a time traveling peacekeeper, Immortus could be the monkier for a computer hacker/activist. He targets superhumans to try and get the data (corpses and such) for his boss Nathaniel Richards (616 Kang's real name). He also has personal motivation, as his younger sister was devoured by the Hulk in Volume 1, and the moment was captured on tape. This drives him against the Ultimates and SHIELD.

Richards directs him to take down a several rival companies, which he does in colorful ways, manipulating finances, tormenting the leaders, locking them in ect. When an informant... informs him of mildly unsuccessful super soldier experiments, giving profiles of the Masters (some new characters, maybe a couple Ultimizations. One is a cybernetic Kang.). Immortus decides to settle his grudge and do his job by alerting the Ultimates, saying that SHIELD knows, but refuses to act due to their contracts with the company. They storm the complex and kill several of the subjects of the tests. Black Panther is knocked out during the fight, and is replaced with an operative (Iron Lad) who uses Stark-derived battle armor (identity and armor hidden by Panthers costume).

Once SHEILD arrives and the set-up is recognized, the links to Richards’ company become apparent and he is arrested. The Ultimates are called by Danvers or Fury (if he’s back) and told how this will be handled in the media by Betty Ross. After the meeting, Ultron robots suddenly start attacking SHIELD and Stark Tower (if it’s built), the Ultimates at various locations in-between. Immortus starts making insane demands through the Ultrons. Then Black Panther’s replacement is revealed, and catches the Ultimates off guard. He knocks out some of them, but is defeated by the authentic Panther. Immortus attempts to escape, but a bit of rubble knocks him out. The team celebrates, and Hank is crushed by another failure.
