After all the hype and delays we get some news....
First Look: Project Superpowers (http://forum.newsarama.com/showthread.php?t=144286)
Who's still excited and/or planning on picking up this series? I know a lot of us were expecting issue 0 in December, but hopefully Dynamite will really kick this into high gear and give us some gread stories, characters, and artwork.

I intend to buy it, I messed up and forgot to preorder the zero issue. Tried to add it after sending in my order but it may have been too late. Will get it somewhere.

Still anxiously awaiting this. Stephen Sadowski said one of the reasons for the delay was that they were being very meticulous about the coloring. The issue is loaded with just about every Golden Age Public Domain character you can think of, and they wanted to make sure all the details were right.

SPOILER!!!!
I find myself asking what would I do if i was one of those heroes trapped by a former friend, trapped for over 60 years. Killing him would be too good ! Poor Fighting Yank, deluded by blind faith in his ancestors devotion to simple ideals that never works in real life. I am looking forward to next issue and his confrontation with Lama. I wanna know who all these golden age heroes are, i hope they all show up and they do bios of them in each installment of the mini-series. :D

The issue lived up to my expectations. I'm looking forward to learning more about these heroes, their backstories, etc.
If we could only have a more detailed release schedule so I knew when the next issue was coming out....

This issue surpassed all my expectations the story was very well done and the art was top notch, this is the first independent comic i've ever bought and will be sticking with it for the long haul. The storyline with Yank betraying his fellow heroes and being haunted by their ghost was tragic and heartbreaking. And this was a great teaser issue for anyone who wants to try something new if your interested in picking up something different try this out and it's one $1. Ross and co. have impressed me once again just like Justice this comic is delivering something different from the norm and has me very excited to see where it goes from here well done guys.

Being 75p here in the UK, I'm tempted to buy all the different covers, although I'm disappointed there's no one cover with all of Ross' art on it.

As for the new series, I love it, and I think some events tie-ins solos origin stories would be nice for certain characters like
- the Green Lama
- the original Daredevil
- the Black Terror
And considering the importance of
- the Fighting Yank
in this new series judging from issue #0, it might be wise to also include a little tie-in origin exploration story of that character as well
PROJECT SUPERPOWERS sounds even like a cool movie title
PS: Also Dark Horse is going to release a Green Lama hardcover archives volume in April, should be fun too

And anybody else wants to release more golden age hardcover collected editions, be my guest; you make them, I buy them

I thought this #0 issue was quite good. The whole thing with the Fighting Yank's blind faith was great. Especially since it was blind faith in the "spirit of patriotism and right!" I mean, we all know the mess that completely believing in that can cause.
But I think we'll be seeing a lot of the Devil character, he got the most nods in #0 I felt.

This issue was freakin' amazing. This is without a doubt the best issue of any comic that has been released this year so far. This book looks to be the book to read this coming year.I was completely enthralled from start to finish and then I was sad when the book ended because it was so good that I wamted to read more of it.Can't wait for issue 1 to come out.

Picked this up. It looked beautiful. The story telling needs some work, but I'll definitely check out issue #1 and #2.

I liked it quite a bit, a great setup issue
Though, I was pretty disappointed to see them claim it to be a 6 issue mini...I could swear I had heard it was turned into an ongoing :(

It is going to be an ongoing. The initial arc is still 6 issues. They just didn't update the solicitation text for issue #1.

I had the same problem with the book as I had with the first issue of End League in that both series seem to be setting up a scenario involving archetypes instead of fully fleshed out characters. The premises of both books are nice and initially interesting, but character development is shoddy at best.

While I cannot argue the lack of overall character development in this #0 issue, I will say I thought the Fighting Yank's character was explored pretty well. This issue I don't believe was intended to flesh out all the characters. That will come later, as future issues look to focus on just a few characters per issue. This was intended to set up the Superpowers Universe. That's why it was packed with over 50 Golden Age characters. This issue says, "this is our universe, these are our heroes, this is how we got where we are." With issue #1, I expect the characters to be explored in greater depth. But that's not what I anticipated in this #0.

* Is it wrong that I kind of want to take all the public domain characters
that Alex Ross & Jim Krueger are using in their PROJECT
SUPERPOWERS thing and do my own book with them, just to
set up a creative challenge/response-song dynamic? I mean, hell,
that's what a public domain and a creative commons are for, right?

Love this!
Enjoying the more mythic take on these characters.
Just got my copy. Most excellent read. Not as good a start as the Twelve from Marvel IMO, but still a very enjoyable issue. Glad to hear its going to be an ongoing series. I thought it was supposed to be a mini-series.

I enjoyed issue 0 of this comic, but it could clearly go either way. As someone else pointed out, the characters are very archetypal, and the story is obviously about BIG, IMPORTANT ISSUES. This could be developed with a light, subtle touch or with a heavy hand an extra helping of obvious. Right now, quite frankly, it's looking more like the latter but I'm willing to buy another issue or two and see how it plays out.
One thing I have to say is that after reading Justice, I've realized that I'm [warning! heresy alert!] just not that fond of Alex Ross's comics. His covers are fine, if a little static, but his interior panels strike me as cluttered and awkward (in terms of storytelling). Fortunately, though, (for me, anyway!) he's not drawing all of the interiors, so, as I say, I'm going to keep buying it for now.
