Are any of the incarnations of the heros from any of the Hypertime stories still around in the new multiverse? Specifically is Walter West still a viable character or not?

Good question!
Alternate Realities and Parallel Earths are not the same thing. The difference is, an AR (which is what Hypertime is all about) is a possible reality. It's existence depends on events on the real world. Meanwhile, a PE is an separate, real universe, unaffected directly by what happens on other Earths.Yes, I know it's confusing, but hey, I didn't come up with having both in the same universe.
Technically speaking then, all the Hypertime stuff should still exist despite the creation of the new Multiverse. HOWEVER, I believe Didio said that they wouldn't be using Hypertime again. But that's an editorial decision, not supported by stories so far (that I know.)
Personally,I prefer Hypertime. It would allow stories where characters meet alternate versions of Earth or themselves, while STILL meaning that the Main Earth is the real one, the one that matters.

Technically, I think Hypertime explains how there can even be a new multiverse.
Back in Infinite Crisis, Alexander Luthor recreated many worlds that were destroyed entirely in the first Crisis. Destroyed entirely, except for their echoes left in Hypertime. That's where they were pulled from before they were turned into solid worlds in our reality through the tuning fork, and when all of the earths collapsed on each other, it created New Earth and the 52.
So yeah, Hypertime would still be out there. The very concept makes it something that could not be destroyed. It's bigger and broader than any multiverse.
