I send Dan Didio e-mails but he ignores my brillance. The man will not accept me working at DC. Damn him....

Check out the Artist and Writer showcase forum. Many post art ect ect. Also quite a number of pros like Chuck Dixon , Ron Marz , Mike Weiringo (may he RIP) and Ed Brubaker post on CBR.
Yabs attracts a lot of good indie creators who draw and write as well.

That's not quite what I meant. Does anyone go and look at people's art then find out if they want to contact some one

Sometimes. But most of the time DC finds talent through portfolio submissions at various cons.

I've heard of that. Hum... it would be nice to make an online site for that; if you can't get to the cons

The major comic companies don't really have time for that. At cons, they'll review portfoilios for maybe a few hours, tops. They really aren't looking for new talent.

I don't threaten....heres a copy of my e-mail to Dan Didio: (Leaving his address off here)
"Hey Dan...its me ...ya know...we met at the Wizard Convention. Remember how I complemented that awesome mustache and chased those Ted Kord fans away from you ? And how about when I when I took that one geeky dudes sign "No Rape of Sue Dinby , NO PEACE !" and tore it up ? I did it for you my bestest pal in the whole wide world.
And now you won't even send me an e-mail ? Whats wrong ? Don't you know I idolize you and your judgement of DC. Hell remember when I made that joke about Joe Quesada hitting the buffet tables a bit hard and we all laughed....and laughed.....and laughed some more ? I did it for you Dan. Because aren't we supposed to be pals ? But nothing....
I even pleaded to get 1 job on a DC book. It could be Shadowpact. Hell not many is reading it and what harm would it be ? I mean you are handing plum gigs to your pal Judd Winick. Don't I matter Dan ? What about all those times we laughed togethor ?
Drop me an e-mail man. Its the least ya can do....I'll be here waiting on you .
Richard.

I know of a few comic pros who are on DA: Lenil Yu, Ed McGuiness, Ed Benes, Stjepan St...whatever the Witchblade guy's name is, Juan Doe, Adam Warren and I think a few others. Joe Maudiera's colorist is there too, as is Christina Strain.
CB Cebulski has said that he's found artists for Marvel through DA before, I think that's where Joe Quesada also found Marko Djurjevic (although I could be confusing that one for MySpace) too. Although I don't know if DC occasionally looks through DeviantArt, but Marvel does from time to time.
I also have one, but it's of no importance.

I've thought about starting an account but I'd need a scanner or a digital camera.

Yeah.... yeah ...he just won't answer my e-mails and all. No clue why. Its really making me question the relationship we have. I've even grew a hot mustache in honor of Didio.

I sent one to DC and got this silly paper back. I know my Dan would never send me something called a "Restraining Order". Perhaps it was Mike Marts who is threatened by me and Dan's friendship.

Love how you two are derailing the entire post. Isn't there a thread for that sorta thing somewhere, like, hmmmm... Ritas? Just wondering.
Anyhow, a few more comic pros on DA just popped into my head:
Mark Brooks (diablo2003), Omar Dogan (he does alot of Capcom stuff /w Studio UDON), Ryan Ottley (WyA), Mark Morales (the inker for Thor), Tim Townsend, Sean Galloway (Cheeks-74)... and I know Mike Wieringo (RIP) had one as well.
I think that's it, but I'm certain there's more. Maybe when I'm not at class I'll compile a list or something.

Yeah. Unfortunately the comics industry isn't big enough to employee every single talented person who'd like to be working in it.
I think they could make some room by dropping some of the deadweight big-name artists who can never meet a deadline, but those guys make the companies money so it'll never happen.

I'm sorry I didn't really think me and Ben's joking about Dan was hurting the thread. But ok....no more joking with Ben...sorry.

Yeah I can't see a Marvel ever dropping a John Cassady. Even though Astonishing X-Men has been later than hell.
