It looks pretty good. I hear it's from the same people or at least studios who did the recent Appleseed full CG movies. Those were.. okay.
The ealier OVA shorts were.. okay. The change to CG is.. eh.. okay. Really don't know how they could capture the scope and story of the longer running manga in a series of films. Most of it is dead space, traveling through a bleak wasteland not speaking much, but I mean that in a very good and interesting way.
And.. um.. I totally didn't just download the full prologue videos. Yeah.
Does anyone know what length and format the final movie will be in? Is it just a bunch of shorts or a full movie? I haven't been able to figure anything out. All I know is that they sold two DVD shorts with a small figurine for like $40-60 each. Yikes. I already bought the first set of expensive Blame! figures and I don't have extra cash right now, so I didn't rush to get these. Though these do look nicer.

It looks a little better than Appleseed, not as good as what Square puts out though.
I'll probably check it out when I can, but I'd rather they were doing something with Biomega instead... it's Nihei's current series, and far superior to Blame (espescially in terms of clarity).

Square soft puts out good material since when?

In terms of CG animation? You must be joking...

They're stylistically different, but in terms of the technical work...I think Appleseed trumps this show.

have you seen the new Dot hack Trilogy trailer or the new appleseed trailer, Beowulf is another example square soft is good but not as good as the one's I just mentioned above.

The only reason Advent Children got noted so well as due to the rapid FF fanbase. No offence to them, but it wasn't that great of a film. Plus I think photo real CGI is overrated anyway.

Nothing photoreal about Advent Children. But I'll take real animation over mocap any day, thanks. And while I haven't seen the new .Hack trailer, the new Appleseed still suffers from the characters looking like toys.

And final fantasy characters don't all look the same, heck most of their guys might as well be girls , well everyone has their thing I guess.

I prefer the 5 min ova shorts to this. A large part of BLAME!'s appeal is Tsutomu Nihei's gritty artwork and translating it to cgi cleans up the look to the point that it loses quite a bit of it's "personality".
Just my first impression anyway.

The "Blame" CG anime looks hideous. Looks nothing like the manga... but looks entirely like a video game cut scene form the late nineties.
I recently picked up "Vexille" and find that it's not as plasticy looking as "ExMachina". I think because they softened everything with filters and extra photoshopping. I personally think it was worth it. It comes out as the most realistic anime-style 3-D. Not so unlike the highly stylized "FREEDOM". Although "FREEDOM" meshes 2-D and 3-D quite beautifully making it entirely unique unto its own.

The show is however extremely post-apocalyptic in tone, and almost has a cyber-tec meets Mad-Max future feel. Which is totally original and also sets it apart from "Appleseed". Although the overall story was pretty simple, I highly enjoyed the animation, original character design, and awesome fight scenes.

Of course, if anybody has any other recommendations I'm interested in hearing about new Anime moving into the realm of CGI.
