JLA Classified #51:
Most of #51 takes place in the past. Team extraordinaire Roger Stern & John Byrne give us a Silver Age-type tale, and it's good fun. We meet the villain Titus. He has a strong religious belief, and wants everyone to drink his Kool-Aid. If you don't, he destroys your churches.
I always enjoy seeing the Trophy Room in JLA headquarters. I see several artifacts from the early days of the Justice League. A nice touch. Barry Allen seems to be the leader of this unit. Barry takes charge. But I'm not sure Green Arrow's comment about "Big, Bad Men" not looking at Black Canary's face is very Silver Agey.
#51 felt like a 1960s story, but told with modern techniques. A fitting tribute to the Silver Age by Stern/Byrne. I liked #51 a lot. Titus looks menacing and even Superman failed to stop him. Not sure how religious-minded fans will enjoy this! But I'm enjoying the ride.

John Byrne's art continues to impress. I especially like his FLASH rendition. And of course, his Dark Knight is always nice on the eyes. It says in #51 that BATMAN kept to himself in those days, I guess to explain why Batman made fewer appearances in the 1960s tales.
The green caption boxes and other hints are making it appear Martian Manhunter and his past play a primary role in this Titus person, and the current threat. I wait to see the revelations in future issues.

This was a very good issue, i'm a big fan of the SA JLA and Roger was able to showcase what made it such a great group and every hero had his own unique voice. I hope that there will be another issue dealing with the SA JLA and their fight with Titus, this is what JLA Classified should have been since the beggining. I read issues #47-48, both of which were a 2 part Satellite JLA story and I enjoyed those 2 issues more than the 12 issue of Brad's JLA. The fun, the dynamics and the storytelling was so much better that is was amazing and this issue is in the same vein only it's actually better written which is impressive.
