Presenting.....jackpot!

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #549

http://forum.newsarama.com/showthread.php?t=143482

That finch cover isn't very impressive..

I wish Larocca would get a better colourist, this looks horrible (imo)

It feels really flat and dull in my eyes, like an amateur did it.

THANKGOD they got rid of the 3d webbing on his costume (copying the movies) that simply would of been my biggest complaint, i cannot stand it.

It does look fug.

Larroca mages to get worse issue by issue, who knows what's happening to him.

The art does look good, I'm still a big fan of Sal and it's nice to see him doing a title outside of the X-books.

No way will I ever pay for this, but the art looks good. Now do we know for a fact that Peter will know MJ is JackPot?

Sheesh, MJ looks like Mss Piggy in the last panel

The last page on the freeview however...really makes me wish this was a 'nuff said issue. It works better without speech bubbles and implies so much more than I'm expecting.

The Spidey/Jackpot fight could amount to MJ going too far against the Mugger and Peter clashes with her over things (she's new to this after all), or, my own theory, she has to keep Peter at an aggresive distance to prevent her getting too close to him and spilling out the real timeline, so comes up with the old "Spidey's a hero or a villain in another heroes eye depending on circumstancial evidence" excuse.

I rarely buy variants--if I really, REALLY like the variant, I'll buy it; if not, I'll go without. The Finch variant is another variant that I could do without. I really love this cover:http://www.marvel.com/comics/onsale/covers/0108/asm54_SM.jpg
and I can stick with that one--it looks amazing...if you'll pardon the pun.

So Jackpot took Moon Knight's cape and colored it green?

So Jackpot took Moon Knight's cape and colored it green?

apparently so, she isn't the best designed character in the history of comics is she?

the finch cover doesn't look bad,
but Spidey's head looks a little bit strange.
Anyway, Jackpot looks good ^^

Why's she wearing a damn cape anyways?

Maybe that's deliberate?

"Hey, I know - we'll make MJ... um... Jackpot look like a complete uggo so that people will love Carly! It's genius!"

Anyone? Anyone?

I do. I asked the question somewhere else on the message boards, but no one commented on it. Carlie has red hair, she is doing forensic work for the police and she was frustrated when they wouldn't let her help at a crime scene. Could be all reasons she needs to become a crime fighter.

MrPalen

She was also mysteriously outside when Peter bumped into her in 546 before the mugging.

The way they have it set up so far though, it's stupid no matter what. If it's actually Mary Jane, that would be stupid. If it isn't, that's just as stupid.

See I think they made it clear it wasn't her when she tried to help out at the crime seen this issue. If she was then wouldn't we have seen jackpot shortly after that moment?

Also shouldn't Jackpot be trying to arrest Spider-Man?

ZT4
01-25-2008, 09:10 AM
A variant cover (complete with an artist's rendering of her doing her best Moonknight impersonation) shows her fighting Spidey...but most of the preview pages have her helping him out.

Chances are she starts off clashing with him over the Tracer murders, and then gets the idea he was'nt to blame.

I think so.

cause then spidey books would be 100% free of ditzzy red-heads
and the world would be a better place.

but MJ is a ditzzy red head
especially in the cartoon

Some redheads are ditzy. Just like some blondes and some brunettes are. Those are the ones we're talking about. :p

 Nobody mentioned your wife but you.

Oh, so if it Carlie...

In ASM 546, Jackpot mentioned that her police scanner cost "her earnings from one modeling job."

I'm pretty sure Carlie is not a professional model.

Hah.

Anyways, it depends on the writer, I suppose. For example-- JMS didn't write MJ as a ditz. He wrote her as a strong, independent woman, who really grew up. She's not a complete ditz, at least.

LOL! Altering a comic book page's images and dialogue when you could've just scanned a page from an actual issue isn't exactly going to help your case, bud.;)

and it gives the essence of the dizziness of MJ

Well, good luck ever seeing THAT again.:D

Fortunately, I happen to HAVE my copy of the ASM DVD and I'm looking at the page in question right now. And right away, I tell that what you put up as evidence is nothing more than doctored panels and dialogue from Amazing Spider-Man #47, page 4 on the pdf file obviously done in Photoshop. And like I said, the original page didn't have to be altered to show that MJ does come across pretty ditzy in that issue.

The pages are altered, but professionally. I believe the issue was Deadpool #11. Deadpool and his friend Blind Al get teleported backward in time and, with Deadpool using an image inducer, take the places of Peter and May. They live out the events of the original comic before returning home.

EDIT: A few minutes behind, but at least more detailed. {shrugs}

As Homer Simpson would say: "DUOH!"

I should have KNOWN it was Deadpool from the moment I saw "Peter" speaking yellow word balloons. CURSE YOU, JOE KELLY!!!!:D

Yeah, remember? Priest showed us Deadpool chucking a bag of "all of Kelly's good ideas" into a pit followed by a bag of "everything that makes this book work".

God, I miss Priest.

Between the extra large neck muscles and the weirdly oblong skull Spidey is looking a little like something out of an Alien movie in that one cover.
