Does anyone know when Salvation Run takes place in relation to the current Suicide Squad series (especially since the latter is presumably back in the present)? Be kinda hard for Deadshot to be on 2 planets at once...
Given Deadshot's being shipped off with all the bad guys, I'd say Suicide Squad: Raise the Flag takes place before Salvation Run.

Yeah, easily. We also see that Waller's planning on using Chemo, who was shipped off as well.

Guess Salvation Run was the "other" mission Faraday and Waller mentioned in SS#5 then.
Of course that kills some of the suspense of the current SS, since that means Deadshot, Chemo, & Waller survive the "Scarlet Tears" mission (not that were that "killable" anyway. Of course, one could have said the same thing about Captain Boomerang Sr. once, and Deadshot now has a (living) kid, which nowadays in comics means you should start writing your will). It also means that, no matter how badly the current mission goes, Waller will still be heading the SS at the end.

I don't see how Waller's survival is certain. We don't see her seeing off the final shipment of villains, and Chemo's reformed from alot. If he were blown up on the mission, it's entirely possible Waller might be killed from the feedback while Chemo just reforms.

I can see Deadshot being fatalistic enough to come back.

The solicit for SSquad #8 basically mentions that this miniseries took place before Salvation Run.
"Who from this Squad roster makes it to Salvation Run?" or something like that...

Yeah, totally. I hope they at least explain why they dumped him with the rest of the villains. As far as bad guys go, Deadshot was pretty easy to control, amazingly effective and completely professional. He's as much an asset as Flag. Seems odd they'd throw that away. Maybe they got pissed when he went against orders to get Trickster and Piper.
But which one is happening NOW?
Does it matter?

Consider this: Deadshot may have been "planted" by the Squad on Salvation Run. He'd be the only one willing (death wish and all), and they needed to make it look like they double crossed him so he'd be an effective spy/watchdog.

Doubt it. I'm surprised the Salvation Run writers haven't explained why no one's taken a shot at Bane or Deadshot. I half expected Luthor to make an arguement to spare the two so that the villains could use their knowledge against the Squad when they returned.
IIRC, Johns has said that Trickster was working with the FBI to take down the Rogues. Given that Deadshot killed Trickster, against orders, I suspect that's why they decided to can him despite his years of excellent performance.

Does it matter?
That depends: is either story mentioned in other books as happening concurrently with their story arcs?

Isue #1 has a note saying the mini-series takes place before Salvation Run.
