Hi,

I have never watched an episode of Buffy in my life and was wondering if i got all the issues of the current series and started picking it up monthly, would i enjoy it?

Cheers.

You'd probably still enjoy it. I recommend finding a way to check out the show though. My old lady talked me into watching it, and aside from season 1 (which is awful) it's actually a really good show.

I think you'd get more out of it if you do watch the show.

The DVDs are reasonably priced now and I think the show is still on FX really early in the morning.

Yep, I just watched it in the last year or so and i'd cherry pick the episodes from season one, but otherwise watch the show and you'll enjoy the comic much more

plus there's no way that a drawn Buffy is going to be more satisfying to look at than the live action version :)

You could probably follow the basic story, but you wouldn't get nearly as much out of the character interactions and the "oh look, it's so-and-so!" moments. The last issue would probably be completely meaningless to you.

I never watched Buffy until i became a big Angel fan...

I happened to catch an episode of Buffy called "fool for love" which showed how Spike became what he was, and it also got into the mindset of a slayer. I was blown away. i bought all the dvds the next day. lol

so impulsive....

shame on me for not picking up any of the buffy comics yet. i will soon though

I have yet to watch Buffy (although it's been recommended by several with similar tastes to mine, and although I expect to watch it on dvd in a year or so)... and found the first four issues of the comic pretty much incomprehensible.

The new comic? Understandable as it's a direct continuation of the TV show.

As another guy new to Buffy, I haven't been able to figure out much of what's been going on in this series. I tried again for the BKV arc, and while I didn't know who anybody was or what they were supposed to be doing, the arc as a whole tells an enjoyable, comprehensible story.

But no, I'd say don't bother. And the comic doesn't make me want to go back and see the tv series either.

Being Honest, no they are not and some things are even rough on the people who followed the show but have yet to read other buffy graphic novels like Fray.

Though the show is amazing and its really enjoyable to sit through. I mean season 4 and 5 get bad for the most part, but season 12, Especially 3, 6 and 7 are all some of the best writing you'll see in tv history.

A big part of the reason I enjoy the new Buffy series is the nostalgia factor, and I do feel that a little background helps.
