From reading the previews and current issues this seems to be the way they are going with it... at least from my point of view... what does everyone else think?
With that being said.... would they then become the Mongul Corps?
What was with that one preview with Mongul having green, yellow and RED rings on one hand? Instead of the yellow corps might Mongul become the "Sinestro" of the red corps?
Feel free to drop various Mongul knowledge or facts on me as well... I've just gotten into comics but have been lurking around the edges my whole life...

I can't see him taking over a group that's name pretty much states who it's leader is. I'm leaning towards him being part of the Orange Lanterns. I think Bolphunga is going to be involved in the Red Lanterns. Apparently all the main players in The Darkest Night have been already been introduced or returned in the last 2 years since Rebirth or were shown in the original Tales of The GL Corps "Tygers" story.

I totally forgot about Bolphie.....
Maybe Mongul will be defeated by the Lanterns when he has his yellow ring and then figure he needs to create his own corps in order to get things done?
I'm not familiar with the Mongul character however though, the orange is more like him? (only reason I said red was because that one picture has him wearing one, along with green and yellow).... or Bolphunga for that matter (besides Mongul's Wikipedia entry of course)... any links or synopses would be appreciated

Bolphunga is a bounty hunter who's rage knows no bounds. He's not very smart or courageous if he's outmatched but he's very determined when on a mission. Even tried to kill Mogo until he realised Mogo was the planet, not a creature on it.
That cover you're citing has changed I think. I think maybe they've put out a couple of slightly altered covers so we're left guessing which one is real and which is there to throw us off. It's been stated he wants a full collection of rings in Didio's Christmas list so that to me suggests he's pretty greedy and a more likely candidate as a proponent of the Orange Lanterns.
Also, check your PMs.

I can't get out of my head how Infinity Gauntlet'ish that image looks.

Gospel true. But it's always awesome, the whole "I got da powah" things is pretty cool.

I thought it was another take on the GL Vol. 3 #49 cover and more recently the GL Vol. 4 # 23 cover.

Loved that crazy homage cover. People may've hated Emerald Twlight, but that image is forever ingrained in a Green Lantern fan's mind.
Yeah, the more I think about it, the more it seems like Mongul is heading towards leading or scioning for the Orange Lanterns. Unlike his old man, who was just an angry bastard, Junior is apparently very greedy. He couldn't share his father's wealth with his sister, and now he's trying to corner the market on power rings. And, apparently, Johns had that set up and waiting years ago with the last "Black Mercy" story.
And it's not that ironic that his ring collection is sort of mocking the Infinity Gauntlet since Starlin made him with Thanos in mind.

Mongul JUNIOR will be part of a corps... orange or yellow.
During the blackest night event, Mongul Junior will be KILLED by his sister and father.
I called it.

i don't take it to mean that he will be head of the sinestro corp. if anything, i see him as a wild card character trying to collect the full spectrum of rings. these kind of stories always have some kind of wild card player that throws a wrench in things (in sinestro war it was superman prime, who in his own villanous way, helped bring the war to an end by permanently removing anti monitor from the playing field).

Mongul will be collecting ALL of the power rings. Which will probably come up with some uber white ring since white is every color, which just also happens to be the opposite of black (no color).

What I liked about Mongul getting a ring is that he is not like the other members of the Sinestro Corps. Just look at the first thing he did when he got it. Intead of going out and using it he had the ring tell him everything about itself. He wanted to know everything it was capable of and everything else. Mongul is a thinker and a schemer, and I don't see him being one to follow anyone.

Reminds me of the pose of his DC direct figure. ;)

We know hal can clone his own ring. Can Qwardian yellow rings do the same? If so, that would explain how he creates new rings by mixing his personal qualities with rings based on fear and willpower.

Does anyone have a link to thisiage of Mongul with 3 rings? I've looked and cannot find it.
There have been hints that there will be a power struggle for control of the Sinestro Corps. Yes, it's named after Sinestro, but he's sitting on Death Row right now. So I can definately see Mongul getting involved in that power struggle... at least until an even better opportunity comes along for him.

I think it was the next month's cover in the back of the current Green Lantern..........? I'm going from memory here but it looked pretty similar to the current one except he just had a green and red ring also.....
or maybe it was a teaser for the upcoming storyline??? I'll check it out later but I can't seem to find it online either....

Goddamnit... I just looked in all my current months DC books and I can't find it at all...
Well everything I said in the post above I meant to say Green Lantern CORPS instead of just GL.... there was no picture of Mongul with the 3 rings BUT at the top of the last page had Mongul's head eyeing a red ring right in front of him...
GL Sinestro Corps Secret Files and Origins also had the Christmas wish list in the back and Mongul's wish was "a ring collection" (or something like that....)
It COULD be I just combined the current GLC cover with the image from the back page and the Xmas wish list in my mind... BUT I am almost positive I saw an image similar to the current cover with Mongul having the 3 rings.... now I'm not so sure anymore though....

Same cover effectively, but the ring wasn't red, it looked more orange. I assume it was a colouring error.
