Looks good.

Ugh, Ramos drawing fight scenes; that's when his art is at its worst. What I wouldn't have given for Mike Perkins or someone like that to do the NXM issues of this crossover.

He said it looks like Lady Mastermind is dead. That could mean different things, but I'll miss her. It's sad, how a year ago, she was my highlight of Mike Carey's X-Men. Her illusions and dialogue were fun and funny.

I refuse to believe Lady Mastermind is dead. The X-Men have so few good villains anymore; I'd like to believe Marvel is wise enough to keep one of the breakout characters of the last year or so alive.

We all would like to believe it but...:(

I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that he said that it looks like she is dead because of her illusions. I can't believe that Mike Carey would allow her to be killed off after all his great work with her. Or if it was editorial at least let himself be the writer who offed her!

and man that ramos art is looking amazing. weird poses and all.

The poses are actually one of the things i have against his art. While I like his linework, the thickness of it and the angular chins versus the wide round eyes his poses often annoy me and make his art look wholly unnatural. If he toned that down some I'd like his art better.

Peter David is a genious. Great and entretaining anwers to boring and stupid questions.

About Humberto Ramos, i always love his art, specially in teens (Crimson, Out There, etc) but it's true that his battles scenes are a bit messy. I'm happy he did the NXM issues of the crossover. Plus, he is the only one in the whole crossover who does know who the others students are and don't just draw random faces. And i love when he draw teens characters in civil clothes.

Wow. An uninformative x-position, what a shocker. I can never think of any question, but surely there's more possibilities than next week spoilers and crazy theories about who is the baby?

Ramos art look great, but his fight scenes are such a mess sometimes...
Wolverine getting shot in the head was awesome. I love Kyle and Yost's hyper violence with the right characters, X-Force is gonna be great.

Damn, I was really hoping Preddy would eat Surge and Indra...

I forgot I'd quoted you LOL I agree it's nice to see Ramos is the only one acknowledging the NXM students and not just drawing everyone as random faces and X-23 not in pink. I think Bacahlo pays attention as well, or it might be most likely Carey.

Wait, when was this revealed?? I though Moira died of the Legacy Virus??
She was dying from it. But Mystique finished the job when she was working on a cure.

From Wikipedia:
Moira did eventually find a cure for the disease, when the terrorist Mystique manipulated her research to force the virus to target only humans. Mystique, partly assisted by Sabretooth, then destroyed Muir Island, de-powered Wolfsbane, and brutally injured Moira. Bishop, Wolverine, and Rogue attempted to save Moira's life. Despite Rogue's powers temporarily granting her medical knowledge, she was unable to do so. She clung to life long enough to mentally transfer the information to Xavier in one final embrace between the former lovers. She died in the X-Men's jet, far above the Atlantic Ocean, and was later buried in Scotland.
Mystique later claimed to Xavier, in Mystique's solo series, that she wasn't responsable. That an imposter had copied her genetics and was the one responsible for killing Moira and other attacks.

Retarded answers?? Actual braindead vegetable questions (some, not all). That last question was akin to "Confirm the veracity of my conspiracy theory fanfiction."

My question at the next X-Position is going to be:

"I notice how Predator X drools a lot. You know who also drools? Qwerty! Are they in fact the same character, also known as Onslaught?"

Seriously, I think it's a winner.

PAD is awesome. His answers are always telling and ambiguous - which is the most you can hope for when things can't be confirmed.

He said it looks like Lady Mastermind is dead. That could mean different things, but I'll miss her. It's sad, how a year ago, she was my highlight of Mike Carey's X-Men. Her illusions and dialogue were fun and funny.

"looks that way". I'm about 90% sure that's a clue right there. She may not show up for a while, but I suspect we have not seen the last of her. Prove me right, Carey.

You hope he DOES? :D

Ramos kids are cute, the rest is ugly.

His Mystique almost works in the first panel, but no. His Sinister?! Let's not. Actually, I like his Indra. Though it was clearly supposed to be Anole saving him, not Surge.

Love "I'm not letting him". C&C do really good minimal dialogue. Like Wolverine's line - I actually like him for all of one panel before he trades a bullet for an eyeball.

You are correct. X-Positions themselves are little gems for which I am grateful. I wouldn't have even kept up with MC without them! It's just a pity that the writers are sometimes presented with some real snippets of idiocy.

i hate how the others students are potrayed so scared everytime something attacks them. i'm tired of the "please, don't kill me. i don't want to die!" (indra, wolfcub, pixie, trance...). of course they'd be scare, specially after what they've been through, but they need to change that attitude! they all used to train in the danger room, and they can't expect to be save by the main team everytime. and indra's power is to armor himself up, he did it instantaneously when rockslide blew up but he can't do it when pred x is almost eating his head?!

the others students need to show what they're capable of!

Summary of the first issue of "Mystique":

Charles' opinion of the possibility of Mystique being an X-Woman:

#2

#3 -- Mystique figured Charles would rather risk her life than another innocent's. (I didn't believe Charles when he told her she was wrong.)

#7 -- Mystique jokes about going to the school and giving the students a lecture. Xavier implies he'd kill her if she came within 100 yards of the school:

Personally, I thought it was the height of generosity/the honorable thing to do for Xavier to shake her hand for a job well done in spite of her previous crimes (#6).

#7 -- Mystique jokes about going to the school and giving the students a lecture. Xavier implies he'd kill her if she came within 100 yards of the school:

Personally, I thought it was the height of generosity/the honorable thing to do for Xavier to shake her hand for a job well done in spite of her previous crimes (#6).

thing is that Xavier thought it was ok to keep Mystique around when Forge, her former lover, had no faith in her. that's incredibly naive on the Professor's part; considering how Moira died (imo). he should have cut her loose the moment she broke rank and murdered someone. as it is, Xavier was being played the entire time by the Quiet Man. this could have ended much much worse. it's not like Mystique risking her neck to save shortpack was in character or anything; not to mention tipping Forge off before making an attempt on Xavier's life.

Someone should totally ask if the baby is Qwerty.

OMFG... What a lame final question. The baby is NOT Rachel Grey.

Yeah, that question was kinda weak. No offense to the person who asked it, but Rachel's got an origin and without Jean around, she's not gonna be born here and doesn't need to be. One Rachel is fine.

I wish Bishop or Cable would call the baby by her name and end all this speculation on who the baby is. (unless Cable names the baby Jean after Jean, then that would be wrong and confusing).

From my recap of UXM #490:

PAGE THREE:

[A wrinkled, skinny, vacant-faced woman lies on her back in an awkward position. To the right are the stumps of two lit candles and a plate from which cute rats are eating.]

SKIDS (OFF-PANEL DIALOGUE BOXES): Qwerty had a miserable life, even for a Morlock. She never moved, never spoke, never even made a decision. Her power wouldn't let her.

[Ororo & James watching Sally]

SKIDS: Because Qwerty not only saw exactly how every choice would work out, she saw how all the options of every choice would work out. The long-term consequences of something as simple as flipping a light switch on, or leaving it off.
Poor woman!

[Everyone looking at the light at the end of the tunnel]

SKIDS: It got to where she couldn't make choices at all. All she could see were the consequences. So she froze up. They fed her, cleaned up after her, but she was pretty useless.

[Ororo looks sad]

SKIDS (OFF-PANEL): Then one morning she saw it... saw M-Day coming. Saw her powers vanishing. She saw the world changing before her, in more ways than she could grasp... and she finally did something.

[Qwerty writing with her bare fingers or fingernails. Poor lady -- I wish she'd called for pen and paper.]

SKIDS (OFF-PANEL DIALOGUE BOX): She wrote the Book.

PAGE NINE:

[Caliban and Ororo stand in front of a door. Sally is a little way behind them. There are a lot of lit candle stubs fixed to rubble. I still wonder if it's safe to light candles in a sewer.]

STORM: So... this book is their religious text?
SKIDS: Freakier. It's more like a map to possibilities. I've tried to read it a few times since I went undercover with these people... but it makes no sense to me... not really.

[Caliban and Ororo staring, wide-eyed, Sally smiling]

SKIDS: Still... this place has to be seen to be believed... My advice, take a few moments to let it all sink in.

[The chamber looks rather like a Christian church, with people bowing or kneeling and lots of lit candles, a staircase leading to a spot with more lit candles. Apparently, the Morlocks have sculpted metal or cut up a very large black cloth in the form of arched windows. The largest arch forms the Magneto helmet symbol. A gray-haired woman who wears a long robe and holds a big book in her hands is coming down the curved staircase. Yes, if you closely, you'll notice the big, if thin, hooped earrings that are easier to see in the next page.]

OLD WOMAN: Greetings, Ororo... former Lord of Morlocks, who is called Storm. Welcome to Lindisfarne, sanctuary of the New Dream. You're right on time... as expected.

Who Is Qwerty?

Destiny type Morlock who supposedly forsaw both M-Day, and the future of Mutantkind. Died after writing the whole story on the walls of the tunnels.
