I LOVED this movie. I was dying laughing all the way through. And the soundtrack itself is a panic.

Just found it. I couldn't place the movie with the title.
Yep, I've heard of it and from what reviews I've read, it's this generation's " This Is Spinal Tap. "

It's one of those movies I'll wait to see on video, or possibly HBO.

I think it came out with so many other more high-profile new releases like Sweeney Todd and National Treasure 2 and got lost in the shuffle. They should've picked a less crowded release date. Unfortunately John C. Reilly's not really a household name yet.

It's odd that this movie went so far under the radar, when almost all of Judd Apatow's previous projects have been big hits. I haven't seen it, but I'd expect it to be funny.

I've so wanted to see Walk Hard since seeing the trailer; couldn't stop laughing at the line (paraphrased) "This is the sixties, an important time in American history!" The interview that John C. Reilly and Jake Kasdan did on Fresh Air a little while ago were really cool too.
Might wind up being a movie I catch on video, though, since going to the movies isn't in the budget right now. Then again, I may just theater hop after checking out Walk Hard to make it a double feature (i.e., pay for Walk Hard, see Walk Hard, hop into Cloverfield).

Why no love for Dewey Cox?!?
Well, CFT saw it and said although there is some very funny parts, he thought some of it dragged. He isn't personally a big fan of the "everyone plays stupid" kind of comedy (ala Talladega Nights, Blade of Glory).
I still might try to catch it while it's in theaters though, because he said the funny parts were SUPER funny.

I blame the people who made "Date Movie" and "Epic Movie." I haven't seen either but they looked crap and I assumed that Walk Hard was by the same people.

I wanted to like this movie, as I really like the two lead actors. Going in, I set my expectations low, as I had a feeling it would lean towards the Talladega Nights end of the funny spectrum instead of the 40 Year Old Virgin end. I thought Talladega was one of the most unfunny movies I've ever seen in my life, while Virgin was one of the funniest, so that's where my humor style leans. Unfortunately, Dewey Cox was too much Talladega, not enough Virgin. It had its moments (the hotel room scene was fun, as well as the monkey bit), and the songs were clever, but I just can't stand movies where every single person is a moron. It just doesn't work for me.

John C. Reilly is a golden god :p
Just saw the trailer for it tonight, it literally was just a montage of innuendo over the duet song. Loved it.
Thing about Talladega for me is it just keeps growing on me. I've grown quite fond of it, my initial reaction was mild disappointment, but Amy Adams and John C. Reilly keep reeling me back in.
I watch Stranger Than Fiction if I want a good Will Ferrell movie these days.

GAIL IS SMELLY! AND HER CLOUD OF STENCH AFFECTS HER JUDGEMENT!
But seriously, if you liked Talladega Nights, or Blades of Glory, you will like this movie. I don't like those movies, so I found this one lacking.

Count me among those who are crazy..... I walked out of it. Anyone who actually sat through it and disliked it, you are Gods to me now.
Gah. I feel as if I lost IQ points just sitting there.
Heck, I'm actually ashamed to admit I even went to go see it.

"Edith, for the last time, I can't build you a candy house! The sun will make it sticky! It'll melt in the rain! It WILL NOT WORK!"
"NOT IF IT NEVER RAINS!!!!"
I'm with you, Gail! I think this is due for a comeback on DVD. The extended edition of the soundtrack, complete with extra protest songs, is as funny as the movie itself.
I'm just sad they dubbed a singer in for Jenna Fischer because if she REALLY sang "Let's Duet," that would offically make her an actress who can do anything. The universe might explode from her awesomeness.

Same here. I'm easily amused. I laughed at Talladega Nights more, though. Possibly because I watched 40-Year-Old Virgin at work.

The ending is very very flawed. Great start though.
As for Dewey it was a new idea. It wasn't that Epic Movie or Meet the Spartans crap and new ideas are a hard sell to people.
I think they needed Tom Meadows standing outside of movie theatres saying, "You don't want anything to do with this film!"

I was actually rather dissapointed with this movie. Nowhere near as funny as Apatow's other work, and too many jokes were repeated(and weren't all that funny to begin with).
I'm glad you enjoyed it, though.

I'm seeing Walk Hard tonight with my boyfriend. He's been wanting to see this for two weeks now and I've been reluctant. I LOVE John C. Reilly but I've heard mostly bad things about it. Sitting through a mostly unfunny comedy is the worst. Anyway, I'll give it a chance and I'll go into with low expectations. Maybe it'll pleasantly surprise me.

a movie you like turns out to not be all that popular. Noone's been sent to jail for having bad taste yet. Otherwise the millions of people who pay good money to watch Will Farrell and Adam Sandler would be incarcerated. (There if that doesn't start a flame war, nothing will. I may also find some like minded, blessed souls who will agree with me on the lack of merit of these two SNL refugees.)

Nobody but Mike Meyers and Steve Martin.
And I'm not too sure about them, either.
