I´d love to see JM Demettels assume if bendis ever leaves.....i mean he never will,but......uh...have.....a sudden heart attack.
JM made some of the best stories for spider-man,and his dialogues were best by none,he would be a great adition,of if only if he could do a mini would be great, although i´m somewhat uncertain how well he would aproach teenagers.

Hmmm... I think Kirkman would bring the right voice to the character.

Joss Whedon knows how to write teenage heroes, so he'd be a neat choice.

Roger Stern

I agree but he's exclusively DC now.

I think, as I've said before, that when a creator leaves a book on Ulitmates, they should relaunch the book with a new creative team that can choose to either restart all the past continuity or use the exsisting one set up by the previous team. I would like the see the whole Ulitmate Line become more like DC's All-star line. This way you can easly attract new readers to the book, and keep everything fresh.

With that said, my top choices would be:

Roger Stern
JM Demettels
David Michelinie

or possibly even Stan Lee, maybe with him Plotting and another established writer scripting the book.

I think Judd Winick would be a good fit for the book. Or Gail Simone.

On the other hand, if they insist on, like Ultimates 3, insist on picking the guy mostwrong for the book, John Byrne has a lot of free time on his hands these days...

I'm just a die hard Whedonite, but damn it would be good to see him writing a teenage Spider Man. Snappy patter ahoy. Go on, just give him a big arc with Spidey and the Black Cat with some Kitty chucked in for good measure. It'd be hilarious. Of course, Bendis is near perfect anyway, so I'm not going to be complaining any time soon.

Sean McKeever and BKV would be the best choices, IMO.

Kirkman's gone on record as saying he wants the book if/when Bendis leaves. Brian even said if he was mysteriously killed, that Kirkman should be the #1 suspect.

No one. That is why I believe when he leaves so does the book. Bendis's name on the cover sells comics. Look at all the other books following their initial creative teams departures...

One to throw out of left field that I think could fill Bendis' shoes would be Rick Spears, Teenagers from Mars was a fantastic book about youth and rebellion which should make him a nice fit for USM.

Yeah he is a mystery Bendis, the only name in comics who sells with his name

I'm pretty sure he means that USM sells so high because BMB is writing it and if he left the comic the quality would surely drop due to his love of the character. He's not implying that he's the only comic selling name on the Marvel staff.

Also...moderators don't like that roll eyes emoticon..it shows either a) your disdain for other people's opinions or b) your disdain for BMB as a writer in general.

I never said he was the "only" name; thanks for putting words in my post though. I just don't see anyone else coming on and selling it like Bendis does. Nor do I see people as excited by it if their were another name.

I think largely with the others a huge problem is the change of the creative team. People seem to like consistency especially in a universe with horrible continuity. USM got lucky in that Immonen was the perfect fit. I think once Bendis leaves the book will suffer from rotating writer syndrome and loose popularity.

All opinion of course but, depending on where they wanted to take it, I agree with those that think Sean Mckeever would be a natural shift should Bendis ever leave USM. As for Ultimates - though once upon a time I would have said JMS - I wonder where Morrison might take the Ultimates if given the chance and a "if it's weird past this you've gone off-track" limit.:)
