He's just on for a four-issue arc and then 'Ultimatum' begins, but it sounds cool. Looking forward to Ultimate Alpha Flight. No mention as to who will be the penciler during his arc.

I liked this guy(well his favourite period is also mine),really hoping he turns the book around(hard tought only 4 issues and Loeb coming up).
But hey i wish you all the luck.
that's cool that he wants to use all of the characters, hopefully he can be better than Kirkman, at least I hope! I mean it can't get any worse can it??
Either way I'm hyped so far.

Interesting. I don't bother with Ultimate X-Men anymore but I'll probably check this arc out.

Me too. I'd love to see the book become readable again.

Ah, Jesus, I'm worried. The last thing I want is Claremont throwback. Let's see this list:
I love and miss: Storm's Mohawk, Psylocke in armor, Kitty Pryde in all black and the domino mask, Wolverine only being in one book, Emma Frost as a villain, Forge as a villain, The Hellfire Club in those weird Victorian suits and Sebastian Shaw's awesome mutton chops.
Sweet Lord. I'll give him Wolverine only being in one book. But as for the rest?
I hope it doesn't indicate what he'll do with the title (and I don't think he will). But I seriously despise most of those things nowadays.

No Psylocke in armor.
If anything, Psylocke is a character that I want to see mirror her 616 counterpart in looks.

I thought she was cooler in her professional suit look rather than her running around in a purple mini skirt. Talk about a total turn around, I know she's in a kids body now but she doesn't have to dress like one!
And no more psychic knife, bring back the psychic grenade that shit was awesome.

In the very next paragraph he goes on to say:
But, I don't ever insist on clinging to the past - Grant Morrison and Joss Whedon's runs are inspiring and just as emotional and meaningful as anything that's ever been done on the title.
Sounds to me like he's just listing some things he loved about the X-men when he was younger. Hopefully this guy understands that not only are we in 2008, but also that Ultimate X-men should have a very modern feel to it. If the fans want something retro they can read Astonishing (not that Astonishing isn't good, mind you, it just has a kind of retro feel IMO).
Of course, having said that, I fully expect Astonishing to be the most edgy and modern feeling of all of the X-titles by this time next year because of Warren Ellis and Simone Bianchi taking over. Perhaps Marvel should've put the two of them on Ultimate X-men instead? Might've made more sense. At least IMO.

what? hell no! astonishing is the only x-men book i ever enjoyed reading ! i like the x-men characters, well the main team, but then there were so many x this and thats,i just couldnt read that crap. But this book is good, great story and great art, lets keep it that way,now uxm there was nothing new on it all,and now that wolvier seems to be on ultimates and kitty is moving to usm,i can see this titlle as not lasting much, especially if loeb is coming to it.

Yeah, that was pretty much what I was saying. With Ellis and Bianchi on Astonishing, I just don't see much need for an Ultimate X-men title at all. My thought was to either put the two of them on Ultimate X-men, or just put the book out of its misery.

I haven't bought Ultimate X-Men since 'Blockbuster', but might get this out of sheer love for Alpha Flight! Hope this arc gets a good penciller.

I hope Alpha Flight is totaly Ultimized. I dont want them to be a carbon copy of the 616 Alpha Flight.

Northstar was introduced during Brian K. Vaghaun's run on the title, right? Wonder if he'll be a part of AF.

This is the best news I've heard in a while! I really like Heroes and hope the new writer will do a FAR better job than Kirkman
