This game is easily one of the best first person shooter games I've played. With stunning visuals, smart objects (i.e. penetrable walls, busted headlights), and an expansive multiplayer, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is a game that one could play for a long, long time.

If you own the game (or plan to own/play it), this is the thread to discuss your experiences both online and off. Feel free to list your Gamer Tags and Clan Names and what system you play on.

Personally, I play on a PS3 under the name Attuma. I have no clan, but would love to join one or start one (maybe for CBR posters?).

Anyway, have at it. Give us your thoughts, concerns, tips, questions, and stories about CoD 4: MW.

I'm on there once in a while, but on the 360. Not in a clan, but it would be cool.

Is it just me or does the sniping suck on this game? I don't know how many times I can shoot someone standing still, and it's like they never get hit. Argh.

Single player was way too short. I finished it in less then a day. It was fun, though the only level I had interest in replaying was the Sniper Chernobl mission. That level was just awesome, plus I love sniping.

Multiplayer was more fun because it lasted longer, but I'm finding it harder and harder to find servers where people play tactically. It's usually just run around aimlessly and bunnyhop. I have fun a server, hardcore of course, where things are slowed down and if you even tried to do that, you'd end up with next to no kills. So Im happy.

Team Fortress 2 is more interesting for me, and more fun. But every now and then I get that craving to place .50 caliber rounds into the skulls of my enemies, so I log on and pull out my trusty Barrett 82A1 .50 caliber Sniper Rifle, which is my favorite gun. If I had 8000 dollars, I'd buy my self a real one.

Also, I play on PC.

Have you tried it on veteran. I think that is where it builds up time. I also think that is largely the purpose of first person shooters. You have to replay them on the different difficulties to better your skills.

Also arcade mode is a blast.

You can get a Barrett M99 for less than that.

I know, it's about half the price if you get the one with the longest barrel. But I prefer the look of the 82A1. I can still hope to win the lottery one day. :D

Tell me about it! As soon as I win the lottery, I'm moving straight to either Vermont or Texas, join a rifle club and get some long-range target shooting done.

I too like the 82A1, but the 99 is much lighter, and since it's not semi automatic, you would save a lot of cash on the ammo (when you have to manually reload after every shot, you'll find yourself shooting less)

Ohh. Now that is a nice piece.

I'm really at my best in the Vacant map with my shotty. You can imagine the kills you get with a shotgun. Either pump action or semi auto, it really doesn't matter. Is the same with LMGs. I'm not really good in open fields. I'm good in close quarters. Anyway, I know is cheap, but there it is. Use shotguns (whichever you're more comfortable with) in Vacant.

.50 caliber has too much recoil. I'd rather use the green rifle. (forgot the name) Is simple, not too much recoil, and garantees headshots.

What do you do with this gun (please don't give me the "You shoot it")? This seems like a gigantic waste of money to me....

They're obviously mainly for military use. Though for someone like him or me, if we were to purchase it, it would mostly be for show. Same reason people spend thousands of dollars on real katanas, not like they'll use it. Oh, or you can shoot it. :D

And I love the shotgun in vacant. I use the Benelli M4 with Sleight of Hand, it makes you pretty dangerous with the fast reload and shooting times. And despite what people say, I snipe better with the Barrett then the other rifles. No idea why, but I do. Plus I noticed it slows people down a bit when they hear that awesome echo because they want to avoid it.

Some people enjoy long range target shooting. There's a range down in Bisley, Surrey that's around 1 mile or so long, shooting targets at such a range with any degree of accuracy requires something akin to a .50 cal or maybe -to a lesser extent- something like the .338.

As for a waste of money? It's all in the eye of the beholder. I would never spend hundreds of thousands on a custom hot-rod for example, but I can see why people would.

As for CoD4. I have both the PC and 360 versions of the game. I played the PC version constantly when it first came out, but I had to reformat my hard drive, so I lost my profile (I never knew that profile data was stored client-side). I was at rank 25, but I've since been busted back down to Private. I play under the name of "BlairH". Haven't played the 360 version online since the beta test.

I'm currently at level 53.
Working on the next two levels slowly, since I stopped playing for a while to finish Crysis which I put aside to play Call of Duty. Or Im too busy playing Team Fortress 2, of course.

i'm totally with you dude. this game kicks the crap out of halo, gears of war and resistance. yeah, cod 4 is short, but most games these days are. i love the level when you get to use the C-130 gunner. shows how kicka$$ our air force is. but anyways, i'll look you up online man

The C130 part amuses me, since most UK video game reviewers have taken that part as being a deep piece of anti-war commentary. However, most American reviewers (and Infinity Ward themselves!) have simply said "Yeah, that's a kick ass section!"

It's probably my favorite level of the game.

Sometimes people just collect them. Other times they use it in shooting ranges. As someone has stated already.

EDIT: Anyways, my personal choice of weaponry are M4 with ACOG, and M16 with double tap and last stand. I usually use them in open fields. But for more open fields I use a sniper rifle.

I gotta disagree with that. But then again Gear and Cod4 are totally different types of games. Personally, I let my copy of CoD4 sit in the wrapper for atleast a week. I finally opened it and lost $30. I guess I'm just not FPS material.

What difficulty setting? 'Cause well to me it wasn't that easy. And I was playing medium mode.

Perhaps shooters seem to same to you because you grew up playing FPSers. For a newb like myself...there is a big difference between the two. Simple stuff like the map and the way things happen so fast is jarring because of the point of view.

Agreed, it was fairly easy until the last guy...who was way too hard for the rest of the game.

Recently, I just discovered Prestige Mode and am currently level 31 (or 32?) on my first Prestige Mode...

Stats (approximation):

Kill/Death Ratio: 1.32
Kills: Over 6,600
Accuracy: 22.40%
And considering it likes to throw you in games that have about 30 seconds to go and you're already losing, I personally don't think that Wins/Losses really matter...

Just for the record, I'm usually in the top two every match with about 20+ kills...

You know, I like how hte symbols look and all, (well some of it) but I see no point in it. Especially since I don't have the time for it. If there's an achievement for it, fine. But I wouldn't waste my time going to level 10 just for 20 points. I don't like the idea of starting over. Especially since I'm always working.

I think Prestige Mode is designed to be more a personal challenge and a bit of a bragging right. I plan to go through all 10 levels of Prestige mode simply because I think it will help me correct some of my weaknesses and make my strengths even stronger.

I totally understand why people don't do it though. I just think that if I stopped getting experience points (staying at 55) then I'd get really bored.

Out of the three possible maps, I really anticipate the possible Broadcast map. It's a different scenario than the other maps. However, if they don't include the best submitted fan-made maps, I would be disappointed, as it would be rather pointless for Infinity Ward to run that contest if they aren't going to include any fan-made maps.
