I have heard a couple people remark on this but does anyone have an official report on what is going on with XBox live? It has been horrible since Christmas.
My friends and I believe it is just the huge influx in players, but truly there doesn't seem to be that many more on.
Also has there been any word on when the problem will be resolved?

haha, Microsoft suckered you (and the rest of the world) into paying WAY too much money for the Xbox360, then charging you a riduculous amount of money for games, then charging you even more money to play live.... now they are having problems with the live games lagging.... I doubt the problem will solve.
Hey, maybe they will charge all of the Xbox players even more money to help fix the problem. :D

That wasn't very astute or helpful now was it?
As for the "problems". My launch day premium finally caught the RROD bug. The store I work for swapped it for an Elite. Sadly, I found it difficult to recover my gamer-tag because their network was experiencing problems. Thankfully, it seems to be fine now, and I was abe to retrieve my gamer-tag earlier this morning.

Yes, a brief issue with the servers getting slammed over the holidays will never get solved. Because this is completely unprecedented

Microsoft offered a game download as an apology. The class-action lawsuit (http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/05/microsoft-faces-class-action-lawsuit-due-to-xbox-live-outages/) suggests many people think that's not good enough.

High prices for games? The prices are about standard. As for the system itself, only the Wii is cheaper. Certainly not the PS3. And considering Live is normally a far, far better put together and maintained online service than the other two, I don't see a problem with paying a bit for a year's worth.
As for the problems with Live, aside from a few hours about a week ago, I've experienced little difficulty getting on this holiday season. And I've been playing heavy amounts of Call of Duty 4, so...

What game download are they offering? I haven't heard of anything.

I think it's still in the works.
(I don't follow X-Box news all that closely.)

I don't know. For me it was because of the router I have. I can't connect both my internet and XBL at the same time. So I have to switch every once in a while.
But then that doesn't solve the problem when I wanted to go to Rainbow Six Live. I get signed off whenever I put in Rainbow Six.

Yesterday I actually had my first connectivity problems with Xbox Live in recent weeks. I tend to go to bed early so as to have time to go to the gym before work in the mornings, but as I had a very early meeting that would make that impossible today, I decided to just play until late. A bit after midnight GMT I noticed that I could seldom connect (or stay connected) to XBox Live. I wasn't playing online, mind you, just being logged in.

By "many" people you mean "at least three".
three Texas residents slapped Microsoft with a class action lawsuit yesterday,

Thats actually my girlfriend. She thinks it is ridiculous that I payed for a 360 then payed for a live account and games; as evidence by her post. Shes a big dork but I love her for it.

I'd been having problems connecting with Live for weeks, but today they seemed to clear up completely and it's been running fine.

I would agree that yesterday seemed the best in weeks. However, I did get logged out of a couple Call of Duty 4 games for some reason. Halo was running very well though.

Live is definitly STILL having trouble.
Today, it took three times for my dad to get logged onto his profile, then he got kicked off right away. Then he logged back in, tried to do something, got kicked off again, and then the same thing happen a couple more times!!
Its just crazy that they haven't fixed this yet. And worst yet, their acting like it IS fixed (the Live site says Status Up and Running). Its kind of like, " Hey.. Shhh..maybe our customers won't notice that its still not working if we give them a Free Xbox Live Arcade game...."
Sheesh.
If this service were free, I wouldn't complain. I wouldn't be happy, but I wouldn't complain. Its not free though. We're paying not just for the service, but also for the Internet, paid for the 360, any downloads from the Marketplace, and the video games that we bought. I just don't even want to think about how much I have invested in this system right now......
Not happy at all. Microsoft & Live just suck at the moment..

" As I've said elsewhere before, it really just makes me want to switch over to the PS3...as crazy as that sounds. At least there I wouldn't be paying for the service when it messes up...gah. lol."
