Has anyone here read or are currently reading this series? Brought up the manga version and thought it was excellent art wise. Then I went to the comic book store and read part of TopCow's American version of the story. I like the fact that its in color, but I really think it wasn't really a need to redo the series. Thoughts?

Got a bit confused here...
Did you mean the American or the Japanese version when it comes to the remaking of the concept?
Because the American version is the original and started in the 90's...
Might be that you already know this and I'm just confused.

I had actually trouble taking the manga version serious...
I know the original was cheesy in the old days, but this actually balances on the edges of H. When the bikiny armor transformation starts the metal looks almost like tentacles having their way with the protagonist.
Had me laughing my ass off. Some of her facial expressions during fights seem orgasmic...
This isn't my first manga and I have seen far more exploitative works in the past, but this work truly surpasses the cheese of the early Witchblade years.

No. No I don't. Witchblade Takeru is a two volume manga that was released in Japan in 2006. It is also being redrawn and released in comic book form in America. Its going side by side with the manga version that was released by TopCow and Bandai. Now, explain to me how that's backwards?

Sorry for the confusion, but I meant that Witchblade Takeru was also being redrawn by an American artist and being released here.

The author artist of the manga version said that he was wanted to the fan service and sexual elements as hard as possible but keeping it in just enough to where it wouldn't be edited in the American release. Personally, I don't find the fan service to be that be of a deal. It is after all, a different artist and writer telling a different Witchblade story. In some ways, the uncut version of the anime is far worse in the fan service & sexuality area (Shiori Tsuzuki having sex with a corpse is an example).
