PS3's don't come with hdmi cables. I was thinking of ordering an el cheapo online until I read some bad reviews.

Sony has their own brand that runs $80

So PS3 owners...what cables do you use? How much were they? Where did you get them?

I use a decent quality 2 meter QED HDMI cable for my PS3. We have an "understanding" with the local home cinema store. We don't pay for cables.

To be honest, HDMI cables carry a digital signal anyway (it's either on or it's off) so the actual quality of the cable doesn't have a huge bearing on the actual picture quality. With the old analog cables (component, composite, SCART, etc) you really needed to go with a decent cable or put up with terrible picture/sound quality.

The only downside with going for an el-cheapo HDMI cable is build quality. It might not last a long time.

Im not sure what brand I have but get one that is gold plated or ps3's own brand. The cheapo's are well.... cheapo's. The $80 dollar ones are top quality.

I was just going to post a link to monoprice. I know quite a few people who use them and have no complaints. There is no reason to spend crazy amounts of money on an HDMI cable. Don't get sucked into the hype.
Here is a review of them: http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/volume_14_1/monoprice-cables-1-2007.html

You can still have signal degradation with the digital signal since the HDMI specification doesn't include error checking/correction. The chances of having issues with a cable less than 6 feet in length is quite minimal. I have had issues with some 25 foot DVI cables.
