Not saying anything new, but those preview images are really sold me for Larocca's art at least, don't know how I feel about that third preview image, guess it's really worth seeing how it goes...
Be wary, anti-spoilerites, I think that third image may be greatly significant, so avoid it in any case.

And there you have it perhaps the main reason why Kirkman's run is the worst in the history of the Ultimate Universe. You bring a guy who worships 90's X-men to a book that was created to run away from it as far as possible and expects it to be good and sell?

Aaaaah...another day, another complete misinterpretation of the Ultimate lines purpose.
It wasn't created to run as far away from the 90's stories as possible. That statement is silly.
And it sure looks to me like the way these characters are being handled is WAY different than in the original continuity.

Wait till Ultimates 3 is done. Then we'll talk. ;)

I thought, 'Well, he's gotta have the arm, the eye and the guns…but what could make him cooler? What weapon can top all that?' Wolverine's claws [was] the obvious answer and our sprawling time-travel epic came from that. Cable is Wolverine."
Is...is he serious? THAT was the basis for making Ultimate Cable Wolverine? Seriously?! Wow.

May not like his writing but Kirman's thought process quite funny....:D
I don't where Kirkman is getting at I loved the 90's, this however felt nothing like them to me...
If the third is actually suggesting what I think it is then I may like this arc afterall especially if it reunites the old UXM line-up (and if they keep the that Apocalypse design)....

but its got larroca on art so i am there :o

... did someone just ask why you would need a weapon with range if you had melee weapons already?
Did you really ju... okay.. okay you did.
"To hit something that might be outside of arm's reach."

It screams badass?
"We need a dude who's a badass. He needs guns...and claws...and scars...and he kills people without a 2nd thought...and be a clone...yeah clones are badass...and a time traveler...
I got it. We make a clone of a badass and make him travel through time with his guns and claws."

I just re-read Millar, Bendis & Vaughan.
I miss Millar :( Everything felt so fresh back then. I know time has based so there's bound to be a more established status quo, but even the new stuff that comes along I really don't care very much about. It's not really horrible...it's just not good. Always seems to fall to the bottom of my 'to read' pile.
Onslaught is....I'm not going to say it, this is Ultimate-verse after all so it should be different, but Sinister is not flippin 90s.

It really does seem that currently Ultimate X-men cherry picks the very worst bits of the X-men from 616.

Agree. Millar was the best Ultimate X-Men writer.

By this criteria, Sabretooth would probably have been a better candidate for Ultimate Cable. I mean, what's cooler than 3 claws? Obvious Answer is 4 claws. But then that brings to mind what Wolverine then said and did to Sabretooth after that, which was almost decapitate him.

Another preview as most will've seen, looks like this will represent the Ultimate Phoenix saga, Apocalypse AND mutant massacre now...
Staying optimistic on this one, or at least as optimistic as possible, and definately picking it up just for Larocca's art at least...
Wow Larroca's art doesn't look half bad! I'm impressed and that's because he's doing Amazing at the same time isn't he ?
I'm just worried about all that's going on in just four issues, we'll see.
Can't wait for the new writer though.

haha, looks like this'll be the big reunion arc for all the x-men in this series. Either A) Nightcrawler lives and goes back to the X-Men or B) Nightcrawler dies, another senseless death.
either way, I'm mildly entertained.

Nice to see there's already a massive continuity error. Beast was with Storm when she was brought to the mansion after the Shadow King attack. Scott and Jean already knew he was alive. Or they didn't notice he was standing right in the bloody room. Bravo Robert Kirkman, you've done it again. :p

You are right Beast. and what's worse is the reaction. I mean hank Mccoy is from the original team. Scott was there at the burial and even helped bury the cofffin. Yet look at his response to Mccoy; so lackluster. Even mccoy sounds out of character. All kirkman cares about is his great plot he's been preparing since 1902 at the expense of the characters. May's issue 94 cannot come soon enough. I need him off this book Asap.

Ya'know, somethings been driving me nuts. Unless I missed it, was there ever an explanation for how Sabertooth's four Wolverine style claws disappeared, and 616 style finger claws took their place? Because as stupid as his original claws were, changing them without an explanation takes the retard cake.

He always had finger claws. He had them and his teeth coated with Adamantium as well.

just got my copy in the mail, holy crap are there a lot of Lost easter eggs. find 815, a poster of evangeline lily, a driveshaft sweatshirt!
No worries here though, Kirkman is done with the book and lets hope our new writer gets a hold of the book and pulls it out of the pit it's been in since the debut of Longshot amd the visit to Genosha.

thats 616 onslaught, pretty standard. His armor is techically his "skin" as some Onslaught artists/writers have said, so Abs make sense.

I just read the issue and found the Lost easter eggs too. I presume that was product placement and not just Kirkman being a huge fan, especially with the out of place lettering of the Widmore Industries building. Hoo boy though, can't wait for tomorrow.
