Sentry is not what we would call "emotionally stable". He is...what's a pleasant word for "bats*** crazy"? Norman Osborn described him best: "Oh-my-god-the-Devil-is-in-my-pants Sentry".
Sentry ended up a very understandable source of frustration. Carols problem was that he was kind of nuts... or in the least unreliable.
In Silent War, Sentry basically stood back and did nothing while their team lost to the Inhumans. In Sentry's defense, his rationale for not getting involved was understandable. He clearly sympathized with the Inhumans plight and did not want the confrontation to escalate between him and Black Bolt.
But that said, for Carol and the rest of the MA to stand there get demolished while Sentry, their big gun, just stood there watching, had to have been understandably frustrating to say the least.
Basically, there are no bad guys here. Sentry's actions were understandable. But in the same breath, Carols frustration is likewise understandable.

That was a confirmation of her fears, but not the cause of them. The MA's were clearly formed before the silent war and Ms. Marvel aired her own issues with Bob's membership when her and tony were selecting the team roster. I think it relates more to his unbalanced nature and notorious mental issues then his fear of actually using his powers.

In the first issue of "Mighty Avergers" Carol call the Sentry "Basketcase" but who is she to talk? In the late 1970's she was seeing a psychogist, she resigned under a cloud from from the Avergers for being drunk on duty and got stoned out of gord, blacked out half of Seatle, and dropped kicked Ironman through the wing of a jumbo jet!!!

Carol
"I used to be a total NutJob, and yet this guy completely freaks me out."
said of the Sentry.
Power of 1 million exploding suns, one breakdown away from complete mental collapse. He creates his own nemesis that shattered all of the Hulk's bones.
Carol sees him as a liability, far from an asset to the team, the proverbial "loose canon."

He creates his own nemesis that shattered all of the Hulk's bones.
Let me add a little detail...
He REPEATEDLY recreates his own nemesis. A nemesis that appears as strong as Sentry but more ruthless and with few (if any) morals. As another deterent, when going through a psychological episode after the breakout from The Raft, the Sentry's alter-ego kicked living crap out of the combined forces of the X-Men, Avengers, Fantastic Four, Namor and others.
It is probably not far from the truth to say the Sentry is one breakdown away from being an Extinction Level Event.

Most likely Carol is a little afraid if him. Especially if he loses it

That didn't stop her from totally coldcocking him in issue six though. Way hardcore.

Frankly, I agree with Carol. Sentry is an unreliable, cowardly, emotionally labile man-child who has far more often proven himself "LIABILITY" than "Asset". He coasts by on "Brand Name", rather than "Actual Performance". Carol should've vetoed Tony and kicked Sentry out of the Avengers before issue 2 even came out. Back in the day, Sentry would have been court-martialed the 2nd or 3rd time he curled up under his blankie, sucking his thumb, instead of helping the Avengers save the world.

Yeah, cause Carol could totally 'veto' Tony and have the Sentry kicked out.
She's too hung up on trying to 'be the best', and doesn't want anyone else to have a shot at it.

I think she just didnt want to risk somebody with that much power AND a mental disorder on the team. Too dangerous.
But I liked it best when tony said
"Bob, in the right situation, will grow to be a Thor. He's this close to being one of the all-time greats and frankly, I want to be there when he does it."
In a similar vein, I hate how Sentry WAS the greatest, way back in the day, the one guy EVERYONE looked up to, and now because of this Void thing, he just all of a sudden starts acting like a total newb with his abilities and fighting attitudes. I was to see back the Sentry from the 2000 Paul Jenkins limited series. Remember those one shots with various MU heroes? Remember how confident he was back then? I want that Sentry back. Its like the old Sentry is gone and the new one is just a replacement...

I honestly don't think Carol could veto Tony if she tried. I think everyone (including Carol) knows who is really in charge. She's the leader of the team purely because Tony says so.
That said, I think both Carol and Tony do have a point.
On the one hand, Sentry is very unreliable and potentially dangerous. In a team like theirs, where you rely on each other with your lives, that's a HUGE liability.
On the other hand, the very reasons Carol wants Sentry off the team are the very reasons Tony wants him on it. Because Sentry is so potentially unstable, I think he wants the Avengers to keep an eye on him. And despite his downsides, he's a huge potential asset as well.

Carol was completely justified in attempting to block Sentry's membership. What he "could" accomplish is immaterial in the face of being a virtual non-presence in the Civil War and being too wrapped up in his emotional/mental instability to actually, y'know, BE PART of the team. What exactly has Sentry accomplished as an Avenger? I'll even count pitching in with battles. What are his shining moments as an Avenger?

He can take the entire team by himself. I think thats reason enough to have him on it.

The Superhuman Registration Act:
Its not just the law, its how we get crazy clones, psycho villians, and a psycho hero whose evil alter ego can do more damage than the rest of the team he's on.
You go, Tony! (...retard.)

They don't seem terribly picky, do they. Moon Knight got a registration card. Hell Venom, Bullseye, and the freaking Green Goblin are part of the Initiative.
I'm actually curious how low you have to go to NOT qualify.

She didn't wanted him there because he's a walking time-bomb.
That said, Xpac mentioned Silent War, but there the Sentry proved to be smarter than he seems. Carol complained about him not acting, but if he did, at least Wasp and Black Widow would end up dead.

I'm with you on the T-bolts, but Moon Knight pulled some serious trickery to get his card, so i can't blame that one on Tone.
I wouldn't want Sentry on the team, either. He's either moping or going ballistic -- a classic manic-depressive in action, except in this case said manic-depressive has the power to level the planet. Stick him back in the basement of the Raft and throw away the key.

Maybe.
In the same way Sentry chose not to act, I wonder if Black Bolt wouldn't have done the same. Would Black Bolt have really done anything to kill Wasp or Widow? I honestly think if Sentry had called Black Bolts bluff, he would have chosen to withdraw over killing any of the Avengers.
That said, I DO think that Sentry was thinking clearly here. I think he sympathized with the Inhumans, realized they were just getting back what was rightfully theres, and thought the best way to end all of this was to simply let them have it. Which is probably what SHOULD have happened.

I think this is when that Kingpin line from the Spider-Man Animated Series is apt.
"You're a loose cannon that must be removed."
Something like that.

Because Sentry is crazy. Like "Howling Mad" crazy. He should be kept in a psych ward most of the time and Simon would have to go in and break him out before each mission.

I do think BB would have done almost anything to get the Mists, and if that was Skrullbolt, then, yeah, he would have killed everybody without hesitation (though I don't believe SW Black Bolt is the Skrull). Anyway, Sentry was probably right in do what he did.

Yeah, probably. Specially because the Mists were theirs in the first place.
