I recently reacquired a PS2 and am wondering what games to purchase...
So what is your favourite game for PS2 and why...??
I am loving Fatal Frame right now...creepy and different with only having a camera to defend yourself...interesting characters and strong story...

Suikoden (great RPG, I love the 6 person teams and the addition of military battles and Duels)
Sky Odyssey (A fun little flying game with some nice adventure stuff thrown in)
Prince of Persia series (I love the combination of puzzles and action, it's an all around fun game, especially the 1st and 3rd)
Sly Cooper (anther fun platform game)
Ratchet and Clank (again a fun platform game with the added bonus of multiple fun weapons)

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater - I'm going to hold off commenting on the possibilities involving MGS4, but MGS3 just may be the greatest stealth action game ever made.
God of War I & II - I just love everything about this game. It has action, puzzle solving, mythology, nudity :). Some of the best looking graphics has gone into these two games, as well.
NHL 2K5 - The best hockey game to come out in the last two decades, if you ask me.

Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence, God Of War I & II, Disgaea 1 & 2, Ratchet And Clank series, Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2, Shin Megami Tensei series (if you can find them that is). Those are just exculsives, there's more non-exculsives.

My favorite PS2 games:
Metal Gear Solid 2: LOVE this game. I use to own a used copy of Metal Gear Solid 2, The Document of Metal Gear Solid 2, and Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance! Great collection and this is just a game I could play over and over and over again. From beginning to end, this is my FAVORITE Metal Gear Solid game (and one of my all-time favorite games). Its also prob the game I regret getting rid of the most out of my PS2 games (don't have a PS2 anymore...). Well this and also...
Final Fantasy 10: ..yes, I loved this game too! Classic turn-based gameplay, with a cool switch in & switch out characters thing, plus lots of items & weapons and skills to collect via the cool skill board. The graphics are great and its just my favorite of the Playstation Final Fantasys (and thats saying a lot since i loved FF7-9 too). If I ever get a PS2 again or get a PS3, I'd HAVE to get this game back...
Kingdom Hearts 2: The first Kingdom Hearts is fun too, but this one just expanded on that and was even cooler. Lots of cool areas to explore, a suprisingly complex & interesting storyline, cool "real-time" gameplay, etc. Just a great series and this is definitly the best of the two.
Wild Arms 3: This rpg is so unique and different. The Westren feel of this game is so cool. I really like the cel-shaded graphics, the exploration aspect of the game, and the interesting story. This is definitly one of my favorite rpgs!
The Ratchet & Clank games: Wow. This is series is so much fun! Ratchet & Clank, the first one, is fun and a great introduction to the series, but Going Commando and especially Up Your Arsnal are just amazing & fun. This series just got better and better & R&C: Future is definitly the main reason that I run to the PS3 anytime I'm at Wal-Mart. lol.
Disgaea: My dad has always been more of a fan of turn-based stradegy games then me. There was one stradegy game I got into more then him though...and that was this game Disgaea: Hour of Darkness! Its just a really fun, wacky, and very strange game! Love the humor and how different this game is. Definitly a favorite. Never did get to play the second game, but I'm sure its really good too!
Jak 3: Really fun and the best Jak game yet. I thought Jak 2 was ok, but it was so different from the first Jak. Then Jak 3 came out and it continued off of Jak 2, but was so much better for some reason. I just enjoy the gameplay, story, and graphics a lot here. Its no Ratchet & Clank, but its definitly fun.
Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence: Sure, Metal Gear Solid 2 is my favorite of the series, but that doesn't mean I don't love this game too. I especially like this Subsistence verison that has a better camera angle and lots of cool extras! Another game I'll have to think about getting if I get a PS2 or 3.
The Dark Cloud series: Dark Cloud 1 and 2 are very cool. The first one is more like a Zelda game with a unique building aspect, and the second one definitly has its own very unique identitly. I think the cel-shaded graphics of the second one are especially cool. Fun series. Of course, I'm also a big fan of Level 5's other game Dragon Quest. And I wish I had had the chance to check out their Rouge Galaxy game. Level 5 is just a great Playstation developer, imo!

Favorite PS2 games:
Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3: Both these games were amazing. Although Raiden irked me the first time through I gradually grew to like him. I beat MGS2 8 times until I grew weary of it. MGS3 I beat only once as I loaned it out soon after that.
Kingdom Hearts 2: Sure it may have been easy except for one or two bosses (I'm looking at you Xaldin.) But it is very enjoyable and the Reaction Commands made the fights that much cooler.
Tales of the Abyss: With some of the best voice acting I've ever heard in a game and an amazing gameplay engine, this is almost tied with the FF series as my favorite RPG along with DQ8. Also I found it amusing that I had Saito, Vash, and Sasuke all on my team and under my control.
Dragon Quest 8: Loved this game. I have over 60 hours clocked in and that's not even doing any sidequests! The English version voice overs were great as well.
Devil May Cry 1 and 3: These games rocked and DMC 1 on Hard is one of the toughest gaming experiences that I've experienced. 3 was great and the difficulty on Easy and Normal was just the right mix of tough but fun.

1) The Sly Cooper series: The gameplay, characters, and story are all very unique. Think "Ocean's 11" with cooler characters.
2) Beyond Good and Evil: This was a very interesting game for me. You play a photographer investigating the alien police force protecting your planet from invaders. It seems citizens are disappearing.
3) Persona 3: A very twisted RPG set in modern times. You play a high school student whom joins a special secret school club that battles evil spirits at night. Here's where it is unique. You must live your life and build relationships with the people of the school and surrounding area during the day to become more powerful. You have a year and you guide the main character through each day, making decisions on whom his friends are and what he does. It also has a kicking soundtrack.
4) The Warriors: If you liked this B-movie from the late 70's, you must play this game. It is a good old fashioned beat 'em up with tons of missions that actually tell the backstory of the movie and explains in full detail how the Warriors were formed. I love this game.
5) Guitar Hero series: Simply a must play if you've ever played an air guitar in your life.
