Interesting...
Spinning out of Final Crisis, are you going to have new series? Maybe a new weekly?
Yes, we are, but it does not tie into Final Crisis. It’s a stand-alone weekly series that doesn’t interact with the rest of the DCU, but features all the prime characters of the DC Universe.
Oh god... another one:P

Well, at least it won't be the backbone of the DCU like Countdown "is." ;) :p
And having seen "all the prime characters of the DC Universe" (I heard it would be about Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman) I'm quite sure this will be the book Mark Bagley is pencilling.

On the subject of 'Batman dying', I will believe it when I see it. Like they would really give that kind of a spoiler this far in advance that would end up being true.
But if they did kill Bruce Wayne.....I might thing that Joe Q was running DC now...

That actually sounds like something I would consider getting based solely on the writers and artist. I hope they manage to produce a good story right off the bat (unlike 52 and Countdown).

I don't think they will kill Bruce. If They kill Bruce... i don't think i'll have any enthusiasm to read DC anymore.

Oh yeah, I had heard about that.... If true, then it should be pretty good.

I'm quite confident in the approach they're taking to Final Crisis in terms of spin-off or tie-in issues. I can deal with 2 series running concurrently, a few one-shots in the month where FC is having a break and perhaps picking up JLA once to see how that ties in. I'm so glad FC won't tie in to every DC book out for that year
RIP Batman? Not gonna happen. Unless they throw the curveball and have Dick dress like Batman. Maybe they'll pull the trigger this time. I don't really want them to, but he's been in limbo ever since IC.

Oh and I definitely think people are reading too much into the title of Batman R.I.P.

I agree. Didio never said that Batman was actually going to die.

There are over fifty Batmen in the current DC Multiverse. If "Batman" is going to die, it's not necessarily going to be the mainstream one on New Earth.
The Batman appearing in the FINAL CRISIS teaser pic isn't dressed like the mainstream Batman anyway.
However, there *was* that hint in JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA # 0 about Superman and Wonder Woman grieving over Batman's death at some point in the future. Don't know what that's about.

But he is the New Earth Batman though, from the Resurection of Ra's Al Ghul crossover - that's how he was dressed.

Why would you expect anything else, give the financial (if not critical) success these have been?

How has Countdown stacked up to 52 sales wise?
As for myself, my decision on future weekly titles depends on how well implemented the various parts of Countdown are added onto Final Crisis. If it's just a big waste of time with no little to no pay-off then I don't see myself investing in another weekly regardless of creative team.
The secrecy surrounding Final Crisis has been keeping me so interested in Countdown and Final Crisis itself. So far it doesn't seem to me that Grant Morrison is implementing anything that happened in Countdown with the way Dan Didio says that Final Crisis is very self contained and that you don't have to read all 52 issues of Countdown to understand Final Crisis. While I've liked aspects of Countdown like the Trickster/Pied Piper team up and some New Gods involvement, Dan gives me the impression that Countdown wasn't that important and that I've basically wasted my money.
But I'm going to remain optimisic, maybe that's why they are so quiet about it and many of the pieces will be picked up by Morrison or all the players were put in place in order for Grant to use them in the capacity he wants to in Final Crisis.

Somebody else will have to give you the specifics but, essentially, it's sold quite a bit less than 52, but still has been one of DC's better selling titles.

According to Meltzer, that future is the DKR future, shortly after Bruces "funeral"

This is the part of the interview that intrigues me:
Who’s the single most important character in Final Crisis and why?
Oof—I can’t say it. I can’t say it because if I say it you’re going to know what we’re doing immediately. I mean, the biggest thing about Final Crisis, as Grant would say, it really covers not just the Multiverse world, but also all the time within the DC Universe. It’s really a story that starts with the first boy on Earth, which is Anthro, to the last boy on Earth, which is Kamandi. Metron is a key player in the story at the start.
Now what character, if he or she were revealed to be the most important in FC, would readily imply the general path that FC is going to follow? When I run through possible "suspects", there are a few whose possible criticality to FC (assuming we were aware in advance of such criticality) would lead to some obvious "final crises". One in particular led quickly to a theory that I quite like, a theory I haven't seen raised anywhere yet...
I'm quite confident in the approach they're taking to Final Crisis in terms of spin-off or tie-in issues. I am in 100% agreement. I love that Final Crisis will be self-contained. That, in my opinion, will make the final product a better creative story. I will happily spend money on FC, the two extra minis and the one-shots if there are no pointless tie-ins.
