I was hoping to read some kind of response to the book before I consider getting it because of the price tag, but I can't seem to find a response. Is this book worth getting, or not?

If your question is does anything important happen in terms of whats going on in the MU today like SI and stuff...then no, it's throwaway.

But I thought some of the stories were pretty nice (like the Gyrich one!), but it's really not memorable and certainly not important...

Nothing important is shown. There are a few nice stories in there, and it does help to give a more old fashioned Avengers feel to the newer Bendisized stuff.

But as far as relavence goes I'd call it a throw away at least for the price.

It does give us some nice character pieces for Jarvis and Gyrich, and a brief trip down memory lane regarding the history of the Avengers, but other than that...it's mostly the female half of the Mighty Avengers in bikinis discussing things. If you're looking for development regarding the plot threads that presently define the MU, you won't find it here. What you will find, however, is plenty of fun character work, albeit coupled with some blatant, unapologetic fanservice.

I didn't spot any green eyes or anything of the sort.

There is a cute part where Ms. Marvel says "I can't believe Jarvis would be anything other than the perfect butler" which will be funny when he turns out to be a skrull.

This issue was worth it to me because all the stories were great except maybe the fin fang four one at the end. The Gyrich one was the best. Plus there were girls in bikinis between each story.

(My favorite part was when Thor called the robots "Thou leaden tick-tock men". I laughed out loud. Has he ever used that expression before?)

throwaway- the only thing worth reading is the female avengers battle with the B.A.D. girls- I'll miss Natasha if she switches teams.

It was a fun read for the most part, I thought. To me that doesn't make it "throwaway." I miss reading stories that were just good stories on their own and not part of some huge event. I mean I like some events too, but people don't seem to want standalone stories that much anymore.

The whole comic is pretty old-school/classic. As mentioned above, the Gyrich story is good, and many of the other stories were good.

I liked it. And you don't have to buy more issues to see the ending.. Although I wouldn't mind seeing Ms. Marvel fight in a bikini.

The super-chicks having only 1 costume is pretty hard to believe, but that's another thing I liked about this comic, in classic days having 1 costume is believable. Now I'd assume the government would pay for costumes for everyone! But I guess they'd have to be government issue and Carol and Jan wouldn't go for having the same costume.

Well, we know dam well Jan has more than 1 costume.

Carol has a few others... but they're better off staying in the closet.

theres nothing story-line/continuity wise, but its a good laugh anyway.

"Sweet, sweet Mead..."
"Tony, Concentrate!"

"Thou leaden tic toc men!"

I liked it a lot; the framing story was fun, with great Cheung art, and it's nice to see the MA just hang around. Of the various stories, the Gyrich and Jarvis ones were the best. The Spider-Man one would have worked if the person Cap and Iron Man had been talking to had been some newb, but it doesn't work with Spider-Man. The reprint of the "Impeccable Jarvis" story from #201 was fun too.

I am a HUGE Avangers fan and by all the Avangers stuff but.... no, it wasn't very good.

The best parts were the reprints (especially the Perez Jarvis story) and I already have the originals.

No, I don't think he's used that before. Of course , the part of the Tick Toc men may have come from the Harlan Elison book of similar name...

I thought it was ok, I wasn't happy with what I got for the money. The LCS pulled this issue saying it tied in with my Avengers: Initiative book, but honestly it really didn't. It ended up being an extra 5 bucks to my bill...meh.

I only bought it for the sweet sweet Jim Cheung art. Other than that it can be skipped...
