This is an awesome adult role playing game that lives up to its tag line,"There is no good, no evil-only decisions and consequences." The only problem with the game is that if your computer isn't up to par the load times are long. Also if your graphics card isn't up to snuff you can't adjust the quality of the video of the game to compensate for an older cards. Still if your computer rig is decent this is a must have adult rpg, which they don't make anymore. My hope is that this game will eventually come to XBox or Playstation 3 but thus far that isn't happening.

Yeah, a console version would be all kinds of awesome.

Picked up The Witcher a while ago at Best Buy. Then I discovered the US version is edited. I imagine their are patches for the content, but still. Edited for what I understand is mild content here?!

I updated my graphics drivers, and turned down every possible setting I could, and it still runs like crap on my PC. Sadly, ol' Geralt will be collecting dust until I upgrade my computer.

To the best of my knowledge the only thing that's edited are nude cards of the women women you can date in the game. Other than that it's the same as the versions in other countries.

You know...funny thing is, I do remember seeing an AO rated game for the PS1. That was ages ago. I forgot what the game is and what it looked like.

I love your seven deadly sins of Star Wars tag. It bought a smile to my face and made me laugh as i'm a big fan of the expanded universe and to a lesser extent the movies.

lol Don't get me wrong. I'm a big Star Wars fan myself. Is just funny when I heard these claims. Well a few of them I saw in threads. The ones with GG has TK and Sidious can rip Superman's head off. lol And the other about Luke able to move black holes. I know it's there in the books, but well, you know.

There are patches for the nudity, but none that I'm aware of for the dialogue.

That aside, it's a pretty good game. CDProjekt did some amazing things with the Aurora engine, especially when you compare this to, say, NWN2. The story is nicely meaty, the setting is extremely well-developed (which stands to reason, given its origins), and the combat system strikes a decent balance between action queues and button mashing.

I forgot to mention this, as I think it's a given in most rpgs. Despite the fact that the system requirements are steep the graphics aren't anything special. Sadly most rpg companies just can't put the production value that Squaresoft-Enix, Bethshiba and Bioware puts into their games. Still the story and gameplay more than offsets the badly aging graphical engine.

A friend in Portland is playing this and showed me about an hour's worth while I was visiting over Christmas. I looked into the books but they won't be available here until later this year. You'd think they would have moved more quickly on that.

I like it, but I hate the load times, they are crazy long. Pretty damn frustrating at times.

As pointed out, the load times are significantly faster if you have the 1.2 patch.

Cool I haven't played it since finally getting the Orange box. I'll have to load up the new patch...
