Please, hold your vitriol. But I was thinking, perhaps Spidey in the black costume in various Avengers related titles was the post-OMD Spidey, and in the revamped world he was wearing it as a tribute to Cap?

Man I don't even want to think about this type of retcon stuff.
I suppose that's as plausible a scenario as any although I think back in black was a little before Cap's death but I may be wrong.

Spideys a skrull!
Back in Black as a whole might as well be completely retconned away, since OMD seems to ignore it completely even before the retcon.
As for the Black Costume... for all we know he has no reason NOT to wear the Black Costume since he originally stopped because it bugged his wife. It may be perfectly normal to wear the black suit to him now.

I think the timeline is:
Civil War, Mighty and New Avengers Up until New Avenger's Annual #2, OMD, World War Hulk, Illuminati #5.
Spidey is shown in his Blue and Reds in WWH, plus Strange does a good deal of magic in OMD which might be difficult for him post WWH. Illuminati #5 is seen to take place after WWH, and strange's hands are healing, but still in lousy shape.
I'm interested in the first New Avengers POST OMD. Who on the team will still know he's spidey...besideds Wolverine.
gosh i hope so.
I actually preferred the black suit myself.
It's one of the rare instances where I liked the fact that the classic look was replaced.
But since that costume is effectively Venoms, I guess it makes more sense for him to wear the classic.

No, he was actually wearking the black suit in WWH. So WWH at least was before OMD.

"Back in Black" won't be entirely retconned if my understanding is correct. Basically everything played out the same in Civil War, with Spidey unmasking, only now no one remembers who was behind the mask. Mephisto stole that trick from the Phantom Stranger in Avengers #107, who erased the world's memory that Steve Rogers was Captain America from Tales of Suspense #95.
It's possible that Aunt May still gets shot and Spidey gets angry, only this time she recovers and so the red and blues reflect Spidey's positive state of mind. But judging from Joe's OMD interview, it doesn't seem like Marvel's really eager to get into the details. If Aunt May doesn't get shot, then Stone Gold's explanation makes perfect sense.

I prefer the black too. Although the Red and blue is an iconic look, the black is so simple, and makes more sense as a costume. It just looks a little edgier, which i think is good for Spiderman.
Another instance of my preferance over the original is Wolverine. Im a big fan of the brown and tan, and of the new black and grey X-force kit. the yellow and blue does nothing for me.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record:
Civil War --> New/Mighty Avengers (up to NA Annual #2) --> WWH --> present day
"Present day" is where OMD/BND, along with most Marvel books, take place.
