Is All Star Superman a continous story the way All Star Batman and Robin is?
If not are there any plans to make it so?
Has it been collected into trades yet? Also how often does it happen to come out (the issues I mean)? Same for ASB&R?
Thanks.

There have been new stories from issues 1-3, 4-6, and 7-9 but they all kind of tie in with each other. I don't know what their future plans are. The first six issues are collected in a hardcover. I believe there is supposed to be a new issue every two months but that doesn't always happen.

Is it a retelling of things from the beginning the way All Star Batman and Robin (at least the beginning of Robin's story) or is Superman already established as a sueprhero?

Issues 1-12 are all one story, "The Twelve Labors of Superman." As elise pointed out, these are roughly divided into three-issue sub-arcs. 1-3 mostly deal with Superman and Lois, 4-6 are single-issue stories, and 7-9 cover Superman's journey to and return from the Underverse. 10-12 will likely feature Solaris, the Living Sun. After that, Frank Quitely will depart, but Grant Morrison plans to continue telling smaller stories with other artists.
Issues 1-6 have been collected in hardcover, and a trade collection will follow. 7-12 will likely get the same treatment, and an Absolute edition of all twelve would not be out of the question.
I wouldn't expect the series to run more frequently than every two-three months.
I don't read, nor do I care about, All-Star Batman.

He is already established as a superhero. It's definitely not any kind of origin story.

The HC edition is absolutely beautiful. I must have for any Supes fan.

All-Star Superman does not retell stories, although it sometimes features new takes on iconic moments.

Reading All Star Superman makes you realize why people caught on to Superman in the first place. The stories are typical Grant Morrison zaniness and Frank Quitely's portrayal of Supes is epic. The supporting cast gets a wonderful treatment as well. I can't wait for the next issue. It is always number one on my pull list.
Too bad All Star Batman and Robin reads like an over-the-top satire of Frank Miller's other work. That, or an exercise in repression and homoeroticism... Seriously, what happened to that guy growing up?
