ZZ Top wants to groove again. And they're bringing Rick Rubin on board to help.

ZZ TOP has signed a new record deal with Rick Rubin's American Recordings imprint through Columbia, Billboard can reveal. The veteran rock trio is planning to hit the studio with Rubin producing, for an album more in keeping with La Grange-era ZZ Top than its pop-friendly '80s sound, according to manager Carl Stubner.

The band recorded for Warner Bros. for the first 20 years of its career before shifting to RCA in the mid-1990s. ZZ Top's last album, 2003's Mescalero, has sold 103,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

A personal message from Captain Bruce Dickinson

Dear 666 passenger,

I am gutted to have to tell you that Astraeus Airlines have been forced to remove the Iron Maiden decals (artwork transfers) from the Boeing 757 and that its now highly unlikely that operational proceedures will allow enough time to have the Ed Force One livery reinstated for my Bruce Air trips.

When we originally commissioned the 757 from Astraeus it was due to be reverted back to their normal airline branding at the end of the first leg of our tour. However Astraeus were getting such great feedback from passengers and airports around our tour, that they asked if they could retain the Iron Maiden decals when they took the plane back for their own normal charter flights. We thought this was great and it has since been flying European and Middle East routes with spectacular reaction.

Unfortunately for us, 'Ed Force One' was the only plane available from the Astraeus fleet to fly a new and regular route into and out of an African country on a recent new route. The striking Iron Maiden imagery had a violent reaction from the locals as they regarded the artwork, particularly that of Eddie, as very bad ju ju. Not only would local passengers refuse to board the plane because of the artwork, but other passengers were refusing to board planes of other airlines parked nearby in case they were tainted by the evil spirits! This resulted in some furore among the attending passengers and even more among the airlines involved! As the liveried 757 is owned and maintained by Astraeus, they had no alternative but to strip off all the Iron Maiden artwork and return the plane to its usual livery to be able to continue on the new route .

As most seats on these trips were taken up before I announced that we would be using Ed Force One (Warsaw/Prague was already sold out), I really hope this isn't too much of a disappointment to you, and I much look forward to welcoming you aboard Bruce Air Flight AEU 666.

When Sephen Stills forgets, he really forgets - especially an album he made with Jimi Hendrix.

World Entertainment News Network has reported that a lost Jimi Hendrix album with rocker Stephen Stills has been discovered more than 30 years after it was recorded.

Stills recently found the recordings and his Crosby, Stills And Nash bandmate Graham Nash is helping him prepare it for release.

Nash commented, "He has an enormous history of recording. In the '70s, he was a recording fool. He just found a bloody album he made with (Jimi) Hendrix. 'Oh yeah, I forgot that.' We've got to listen to that... I want to listen to every track he ever recorded in case he recorded with Al Jolson."

BLAZE BAYLEY's Wife/Manager In Critical Condition - July 12, 2008

According to a posting on UK singer Blaze Bayley's (ex-IRON MAIDEN, WOLFSBANE) official web site, Blaze's wife/manager Debbie "is in critical condition in hospital following a dual brain hemorrhage last week and has not regained consciousness." Blaze's bandmates write, "Understandably, Blaze will be staying at bedside for the time being and we as a band are not prepared to put ourselves too far from her under these circumstances. Due to this serious situation, Blaze cannot appear at the Easy Rider Bike Fest [in Italy] this coming weekend and the Brazil tour must be postponed until early next year. For the time being please contact serpentheartedman@gmail.com for any business-related enquiries. Any messages of support can be sent to messagesofsupport@gmail.com — they will be forwarded directly to Debbie and Blaze."

Bayley and Debbie got married on February 14, 2007 on the island of Gran Canaria.

In a May 2008 interview with HeavyMetal.no, Bayley stated, "I had a lot of problems with alcohol, severe depression, almost had a breakdown at the end of [the] 'Tenth Dimension' [album cycle], fucked about by the record company, totally broke, I'd spent all my money of trying to keep the band together. I was absolutely fucked. I was just about keeping going, and then I met my wife. And she known me... We've known each other for 18 years. 20 years. We were apart for years, because I follow this passion for music, and Debbie was following her passion, she was a dancer, and then she got her own hair business, and then we met again, when I was at my lowest. My wife found me, and really made me believe again, that it wasn't all my fault, it wasn't the fact that people didn't like what I was doing, it was the fact that they didn't actually know that I was doing anything at all. So that was a big difference. So that's it. She supported it, then I had incredible support from my family, my friends, and the fans who stuck by me was just incredible. With that kind of support, and with my wife behind me, helping me sort myself out, [I got] through my drinking problems, depression and all of that."

Rush returning to U.S. television after 33 years:

Canadian progressive rock band Rush will perform their classic song "Tom Sawyer" on "The Colbert Report" Wednesday night.

This will be Rush's first U.S TV performance since 1975. The band is currently in the midst of touring the US in support of Snakes and Arrows, their most recent album, which debuted at #3 on the Billboard with 93,000 copies sold.

"The Colbert Report" is on Comedy Central at 11:30 pm EST.

Hope is the band's farewell album (how many farewells last?). While Hope isn't their strongest album (that would be Weight of the World), it is a fitting swan song for the band. Hope has just as many hooks and melodies as the albums that came before it. Fans will be pleased and sad at the same time."

"Prior to this I have only heard one Tiamat song, "Brighter Than the Sun." It's apparent that the one song I've heard is not a great representation of the group. Tiamat's latest is dark, haunting, and down-right brutal. Not the good fist-pumping brutal, but more of the 'God this sucks' kind of brutal. If you can decipher or pronounce the titles, you've already faired better than me. Beyond that, the concept is cloudy and the music is boring. There's no structure to the songs at all. It's almost as if the vocalist said to the band, you play something and I'll say what comes off the top of my head. "

Tesla plans to release their new album Forever More on October 7th.

Multi-platinum rockers Tesla are looking to their seventh studio album, Forever More, to be released on October 7th on Tesla Electric Company Recordings (in partnership with Ryko Distribution). "I Wanna Live", the new album's first single, is being serviced to radio stations nationwide on August 18th. The band's world tour will kick off October 1st in Salt Lake City with more dates announced in the coming weeks.

For Forever More, Tesla reunited with producer Terry Thomas, who was behind the boards for the band's 1994 Gold-certified Bust A Nut album, and engineered by Michael Rosen who worked with Tesla on Into The Now.

Guitarist Frank Hannon explains, "We started writing new songs for this album the first week of January, while simultaneously planning a mid-West tour of America in February and recording our Comin Atcha Live! 2008 DVD while we were on the road. Coming home in March, we hired Terry to jump back into writing and recording music with us while we edited the DVD and routed a summer tour of Europe. We're riding a wave of energy that doesn't come easy for a band of rookies much less a band whose been doing this for over 20 years - and we wouldn't have it any other way."

Lamb of God has begun recording their new album:

Virginia metallers Lamb of God have announced that they have entered the studio with producer Josh Wilbur to record the follow-up to 2006's Sacrament.

The as-of-yet-untitled album is scheduled for release in February 2009 from Epic Records in NA and Roadrunner Records worldwide. Producer Wilbur is known for his work with country star Steve Earl.

Commented Lamb of God drummer Chris Adler: "We are excited change things up this time and work with Josh. We've never stayed in one place too long, and the evolution continues. There is an aggressive shift in the material and our approach. The bar has been raised."

After finishing up production on the new album, the band will tour with Metallica and around the world.
