Brian Reed interview about the upcoming Young Avengers Presents featuring Hulkling (God, I wish they changed his codename...).
Seems like it will be mostly avoiding the Secret Invasion thing and focusing on Teddy's first meeting with Captain Marvel.
Looks like it will be quite an emotional issue, and I'm looking forward to it.

Sounds good, but why would you want his name changed? Hulkling is classic. :D

LOL Yeah, I guess, it's just slightly constipating, that's all.
And I must say this must be the stupidest question ever:
NRAMA: Wrapping things up, why should Young Avengers fans read a Young Avengers story by someone who's not Allan Heinberg?

I wonder if during Secret Invasion Hulking decides to follow his destiny?
I'm hoping this issue will resolve Hulkling (and the Young Avengers in general) status as far as the Initiative goes.
I'm not sure how seriously we were suppossed to take Dan Slott's retcon.

what did slott do!?
what did slott do!?
In She-Hulk, a bunch of tourists from another dimension occasionally show up on earth posing as superheroes. This was Slott's way of fixing some of the continuity mistakes in marvel.
Apparently the Wiccan and Hulkling who registered were actually the imposters. But because the whole thing sort of had a humerous tone, I'm not 100% if we're suppossed to take that seriously or not.

I'd say they aren't registered, and he was trying to fix his own mess when he showed them on the Initative. They were shown as being associated with the New Avengers after all, although I'm not sure how seriously we were supposed to take Fallen Son as well... Hopefully this mini will clarify the situation.
Issue five hasn't been announced, has it? I wonder who the creative team will be. Since I guess Stature is no longer with the team, but part of the Initiative, I suppose it will feature Hawkeye. Maybe a reunion with Clint Barton, since it seems to be the way all the issues are going.

No, as far as I know Issue 5 is still a mystery. As is Issue 6.

I thought it was five issues long. Now I realize I need to pay more attention. :p
Then I guess both Hawkeye and Stature get an issue then. Wonder if Cassie rejoins the team for season two.

It was originally going to be 5. But when it was solicited, it was stated as 6.

So, going by what Reed said I'm guessing Captain Marvel is going to do the "I really can't deal with this right now" thing.
Basically turn Hulkling down as gently as possible but still look slightly like a douchebag.

I hope we get some kind of answer even if its a small tidbit! It has been bothering me for the longest! That Dan retcon was too funny to be taken seriously, IMO!

Oy! That IS a stupid question! Frankly, I could care less about Allan! He can't keep a schedule to save his life! :evilangry

Stature's still on the "team", albeit separated by circumstances in the universe itself. She's mentioned in the solicitation for the first issue (while Speed is not, since everyone forgets about him).

I suppose it depends on where the rest of the team lies in terms of the registartion.
She was clearly on the opposing team in CW 7 when she fought alongside Tony's team against the rest of the Young Avengers.
If the rest of the team have since registered, then they can all be on the same team. But if Stature is on the side that's suppossed to be hunting down and capturing the Young Avengers then I can't effectively see how they can be on the same team.

Apparently the Young Avengers remain against registration, as they were shown on the Fallen Son mini, but were registered by their alternate universe counterparts or whatever... But the thing is they're fighting it by refusing to join the Initative, like Stature did. I dunno if they still consider her part of the team, hopefully it'll be adressed on the mini.
It would be neat if the Iniative recruits were sent after them and Cassie was forced to fight against them again, or return to them already if they accept her.
The post-CW status of the team seriously need some clarification...

Hmmm... you bring up an interesting point. If the Young Avengers duplicates registered in their name, then in THEORY they probably shouldn't even need to register. So at this point they're probably not criminals unless the Initiative asks them to do something they don't want to do and they refuse.

If it's a mere matter of knowing their names, Iron Man knew who they all were before a single shot was fired in the Civil War. Registration means being on-call for SHIELD/CSA.
Based on what we've seen so far, they live at home, which doesn't suggest they're enemies of the state, hence, registered.

The thing is the Young Avengers are all minors. They SHOULDN'T be on call for SHIELD or the CSA. We have seen Hulkling (or Hulklings duplicate) used, and Stature prior to the Initiative forming, so they may simply ignore that whole notion. But in theory at least, I don't think they should be called into service for anything short of more training.
Either way, I wonder if the Young Avengers didn't end up getting the best of both worlds. They were against the registration, and didn't compromise their beliefs by registering. But because their duplicates did it for them, they may get off the hook legally without having to "sell out" morally to something they don't agree with.

Why did they bother to retcon it anyway if Heinberg is not exactly rushing to do any more YA?
Maybe they decided Hulkling and Wiccan would retire or something? Since they weren't hanging out with Patriot and Hawkeye-girl at all in Fallen Son.

I agree that minors shouldn't be forced to fight but again we're talking about the YA and they want to be heroes! I think if Slott recton holds then Jennifer can represent the YA in that area of registering but "not actually" registering!

I think that the case right there! I think they register but they aren't going through the training and has simply gone "underground" like NA to fight crime secretly! We do know one thing and thats Cassie is an Initative and no longer a YA! She quit them during CW and didn't seemed to care too much about it, IMO!

She had like one panel, and looked quite sad in it, so it's not really fair to judge based on that (the YA/Runaways team-up was fun, but, in retrospect, the YA really needed tie-ins/follow-up that dealt with the major stuff happening to them during that event, such as the schism, the fact that their parents must all know what they're doing now, etc.).
As for Cassie's status, she's doubtless apart from the group at the moment; I expect her story in the mini will be about her and the rest of the team dealing with the fallout of CW.

I do think her involvement in the last fight of CW was very suspect.
She obviously was willing to actually FIGHT and attempt to apprehend her own teamates. Her entire motive for switching sides was her NOT wanting to fight other superheroes... but the next time we see her, she's part of a team trying to take down the Young Avengers.
So I don't know... that personally left a bad taste in my mouth too.

She's the daughter of a criminal (albeit a dead reformed one).
In alot of cases in fiction, that tends to either instill someone with a strong sense of justice and law or turn them into a sleazebag.

Exactly! Forget the "one panel" excuse! In the end, she left the team; her teammates was more sad about it, and then teamed with the opposition to take them down? Cassie is a turncoat and a rather weak one at that! I will let age and inexperience factor in this...I guess!

Once you join the pro-Regs, you have to do what they say (that's the whole point).

Well, all I can say is that if that applies even to minors then they're a bunch of jerks. Heck, if they're putting minors in that situation then they're a bunch of jerks even if she wanted to do it.

I think Patriot and Hwakeye featured on that issue because of their ties with Captain America and Clint Barton, not because they were the only remaining active members.
They're probably just laying low or something for the time being.

I agree with you about chaning hulkling's codename - how can you take him seriously.
but i am so happy to hear that he's going to be part of the secret invasion because there is so much about him that could affect the invasion is so many ways! That was the thing i was worried about the most - the lack of Teddy's role being the heir to the Skrull empire and being the true Super Skrull.
dang the art looks so good in that issue. way better then the first. lets hope the story is as good.
