View Full Version : Spider Woman underoos Commercial?

(Hey - I posted this on another Spider Woman thread - but I just couldn't resist - I've got to know if anyone has seen this commercial...sorry)...
Man... I remember being 13 years old when those silly underoos commercials were all-over Saturday morning tv... man, I hated those things... but more than anything I despised the underoos for girls commercials - EXCEPT for the one in which an animated "Spider Woman" stepped into the screen. Here's how it went:
Several of the superheroine animated characters would step in and say something - and then the girl in corresponding underoos would sing something to rhyme what the superhero said... ...first, I think, was Wonder Woman - then another female superheroine ...
and then...(OMG) ...Spider Woman...
...the animated character stepped into the screen in that skin-tight, spray-painted-on, form-fitting, ultra-sleek, ultra-hot red and black outfit & flowing long, black hair and said (in an extremely sexy, rhaspy, sultry, older-woman voice)...
"Spider Woman... Brrrrrrave and tallllll"
(I swear it sounded like a German accent - so it came off like this: "Spider Voomin... Brrrrrafe ent talllll")
...and then the stupid kid would ruin it and sing "She's how I feeeeeel underneath it alllll!!" ...ugh... effectively poisoning the ultra-sexy Spider Woman siren that graced the screen moments before.
I will NEVER forget that part of that commercial ...I am just DYING to find it on Youtube one of these days.... I'm rather surprised it didn't cause concern by adults at the overtly sexy portrayal of Spiderwoman ...but who knows.
Do any of you remember this commercial? If so - gimmie your take -for all the normal reasons - that she was the hottest animated superheroine ever to be drawn - ...but also, I'm really curious to know if I was just misinterpreting what sounded like a German accent on her.

Barely, I remember the underwear better. I remember seeing it but it is too distant and obscure to recall the voice but my love for Spider-Woman has been with me since I was small and this probably played a part in it.

Hey, thanks anyway ...
...so I guess the broader question might be - was Spider Woman supposed to have an accent, regardless of this commercial? Seems like if she wasn't supposed to have one in the canon of Spider Woman, then there would probably be no reason for that underoos commercial to "suddenly" give her an accent out of nowhere. I gotta' tell you though - even if I did misinterpret it - the very idea of a good-gal Superheroine that's extremely hot with a German accent is an absolute treasure to behold. Someone oughta' come up with one.

She was voiced by Joan Van Ark in the cartoon series.

Okay - well that being the case, I'm guessing the accent was a fig-newton of my perverted imagination (exponentially compounded by being a 13 year old).
Thanx...

Well, I said in the Cartoon series, there might have been someone else doing it in the ad.

SpiderPerv, I remember that commercial! As I haven't seen it in years, I can't remember a German accent. However, I DO remember Spider-Woman sounding sultrier than her fellow superheroines! Like, "phone sex" level sultriness. LOL
Regarding Spider-Woman herself--nope, no German accent. The character was born in England and spent formative years in the Balkans. Shortly after her disastrous experience with HYDRA, she lived in London. About three issues into her original series, Jessica moved to Los Angeles.
Personally, I see Jessica Drew as one of those people who managed to cultivate a non-accent. Partially espionage training, part moving all over the world.

Tangent - awesome!! Someone else remembers!! Okay - fine I'm wrong on the German accent - but the sultry phone-sex thing - YEAH!! Dead-on!!! Not only that but the way she stepped forward in that outfit was just too hot!!
Man...it's too bad this character isnt' as big as other Marvel characters ...means she'll never have a movie of her own - but perhaps she'll be a character in the Spiderman films someday. (wisheful thinking, sure).

Okay - as stated TWO YEARS AGO, I was looking for the old underoos commercial that featured an animated Spiderwoman who looked ULTRA HOT and even more - sounded like she had a German accent (just read the previous thread if you want the scoop) ...so I happened to find it on youtube!! And guys - when I first found it - I thought "okay I'm sure she'll have a regular accent and I probably imagined the German accent thing" ...but fellas - GO LOOK!!! And LISTEN - I SWEAR TO YOU SHE SOUNDS GERMAN!! She says "Spider Woman's Brave and Tawwwllll" ...it's the inflection on "Tall" that sounds German (I mean - can't anyone else hear it???).

I honestly wish that someone would crop out the kids in this - because I know there are REAL pervs who are into kiddie-ped stuff and it makes me sick. The only reason I'm showing this is because Spiderwoman is so Hot in the animation (I really wish it weren't coupled with kids underwear for goodness sake).
Anyway -go here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XfOBsxGNVZk&feature=related and take a look at spider woman at about 0:08 thru 0:13 ...she even poses really hot and man - her jet black hair with the sheen in it ...too much!!! She is exactly how I remember her!!

Okay, okay fine fellas, I get the idea - you obviously don't think so ... so just WHAT does that sound like to you when she says "tall" ...an average New York accent????
Oh whatever. At least we got to view that gorgeous hot spider bod again :)

I was really put off by the little girls. I don't know man, that was sketchy.

Yeah, I can hear the accent, not sure if I consider it german though...
That said, really, what were they thinking back then? SO VERY VERY WRONG.

Yeah, if I were to pick, that does sound like a German accent to me. I wonder if this was a big influence on a young Brian Bendis back in the day.
And yes, seeing those little girls is pretty skeevy today. I'm almost scared to be seen posting in this thread. Ah, the '70s...a more innocent time.

You know what concerns me more than the little girls in an underwear commercial that's targeted to little girls?
The adults in this thread that have some strange sense of attraction to a cartoon character. ****ing weirdos.

Yeah folks - agreed on the kids in the commercial ... it's totally outta' line. I feel like getting some open-source video editor and cropping them out completely and then reposting the link (yeah - I'm nervous posting to MY OWN thread on this too ...heck, I'm target numero #1 should they want to come after anybody... hopefully they'll read this and see that it's spiderWOMAN that I'm interested in... and yeah Adam - guilty as charged on that "weirdo" label for drooling over Spiderwoman's hot bod and sweet accent :).

agreed. its fucking cartoon. never was or will be real.
same reason i never get those 'who in marvel who you date' threads.
they draw women poorely in comics, and its like all these creeps focus on is their drawn proportions and not how extremly gross and sexist it really is.

Is it canon that Spider-woman has an accent? I never thought about it before. She grew up on Wundagore right?

Guys - will you come on - what is wrong with appreciating a spiderwoman's hot bod? (except for the one dude who thinks it's "Sexist" OMG ... hey dave - I totally will take the hit for those thinking it's "creepy" etc. - but SEXIST???? Haven't you noticed that just about every chick in the comics is illustrated with an EXTREMELY hot body???? For god's sake either your some feminist chick masquerading as a dude - or you're some "activist" who thinks he can put his politically correct BS into a comics thread.) ... I'm assuming that's why you guys keep putting fail (or is it that you don't think she's got the accent?).
Ahh whatever... Spiderwoman's Hot - I've pointed it out - so call me what you will on that side of things. Guilty as charged.

Well, in my opinion, it's not a bad thing to consider comic art (or any art for that matter be it a painting or photo) "sexy" or attractive. It may not be tangible but it still portrays human aspects to a degree so I don't see the problem with it. I think the problem with it is when a person falls in love with the image (or something similar). It just gets weird; it's like the Japanese guy who married a videogame avatar. (Not knocking on you, SpiderPerv.)
That said, that was a really weird commercial. It felt... wrong to watch. Glad I grew up in the '90s where everybody was punching everybody and the Transformers were animals.
