I'm personally assuming that Marvel Boy ends up taking the Captain Marvel name at the end of SI. Obviously that's just speculation. So I'm guessing that we'll see more Captain Marvel, but not necessarily Mar-Vell. Not that we even technically got Mar-Vell to begin with.

We're not sure what will happen to him once Secret Invasion is over. There's a possibility he'll die and Marvel Boy (Noh-Varr) will take up the mantle and join one of the Avengers teams.

Didn't Bendis say something about "a" Captain Marvel being involved with the Avengers after Secret Invasion? I swear to god I heard this in a interview somewhere, I just can't remember where.

In any case, I vote Captain Marvel ( badass Marvel Boy) being a member of The Mighty Avengers post SI.

I wouldn't doubt it.

Stark seems to like putting powerful potential lose cannons on his team so he can keep an eye on them. Ares and Sentry for example. Marvel Boy would fit that description perfectly.

Agreed. Everything he's appeared in since his original min basically points in that direction, especially his Illuminati story. One of the upcoming Avengers (I think Mighty) SI tie-ins is going to deal with the two Marvels and their roles in SI. I seriously doubt a Skrull imposter will be kept around as Mar-Vel and Noh-Var is an obvious replacement (sorry Genis fans).

Captain Marvel was favourite hero for me as a kid in the seventies and early eighties. It was therefore a bit of a killer to discover (via some other comic's letters page where he was called the "late lamented Captain Marvel") that he was dead. And even worse to find that he was the only superhero that would never ever be properly resurrected ("Death of..." was an excellent graphic novel of course).

So I can't really get behind this Skrull imposter. But yeah, Marvel Boy would be an ideal candidate.

Does CM have a public image. When Monica Rambeau was given the name (after some fool said "the captain is a marvel" in her origin story), later on she claimed she hadn't realised there had been someone who had the name before her. You'd have thought she would be better informed as a policewoman.

And agreed, you'd need a lot of impressive PR to get over Marvel Boy's antics. Still he'll have a mask and a different name. Who'd know?
