There doesn't seem to be much hype over Playstation 3's highly anticipated game HAZE. I on the other hand have been dying to play it. Its release date is sometime in January so if anybody but me is excited you better reserve it now. There have been discussions over whether it's a "Halo Killer" which of course everybody knows you can't kill Halo. I'd like to know what you guys think of the up and coming title by Ubisoft.

If theres no hype, how can you tell it's highly anticipated?

The game seems cool so far. I might pick up a copy.

The market has really been over saturated with FPS lately. I find it very hard to really care about any of them.

If it was a Halo killer, it wouldn't be published by Ubisoft.

Not necessarily FPS (I thought Portal was damn good and innovative along with Bioshock) but specifically, WWII shooter. By the code of Mario, Sonic and Master Chief, must we subjected to ANOTHER WWII FPS?

How many WW2 FPS games came out this year? I can't think of any

Not any this year, but there was a glut of them holiday season last year. And by glut, I mean two.

This game looks generic, just like Halo. Hopefully it can be even more mediocre, then I'll have to buy it and play it with all my friends.

Also, I totally agree with Allister about Portal and Bioshock. Although let it be said that they are shiny pieces of corn in a big puddle of diarrhea.

Because it's an exclusive for the Playstation. They don't have a lot of exclusive titles yet. And because i want it and i anticipate it lol

I wouldn't say that, while perhaps FPSs might not be there thing, I loved BG&E and the Prince of Persia series. So I guess I would be interested only if Ubi France was involved and it wasn't an FPS and I owned a PS3. So.....

Medal Of Honor: Airborne was the only WW2 FPS that came out this year.

What I want in FPS is more "innovative" settings like Bioshock and Portal.

Seriously, the FPS released this year fall into two categories. Real-life, be it WWII or Modern day warfare and Sci-fi shooters. I'm also including the Tom Clancy Rainbow 6 squad games as well....

Call of Juarez, Painkiller Overdose, Hellgate London

Didn't portal take place in a lab? That's an innovative setting?

This thread is about HAZE and what you guys think about the game. Its attributes involving Mantel and their abilities and the Rebels and theirs.

This thread is not about FPS bashing or any of the sort. Thats all I've seen in this thread. I know that there are a lot of FPS today and that Haze is one of them I just thought it would be intresting to talk about, I'm not trying to please anyone.

I don't know if this comment is sarcastic and if it's not I apoligize.

But a lot of FPS have come out after Halo 3

Call Of Duty 4 and Medal Of Honor Heroes 2 both came out after Halo 3, I'm actually pretty sure there may be at least one more besides those

In a way, it is.

This is just giving you an idea why he (and most of us) got tired of FPS games. Before Halo 3, there weren't that many.

About Haze, I've seen a bit of the trailer and thought it's good. But I'm not holding my breath. As awsome as the game looks, it might suck. Happens with most games.

There have been alot of shooters. Hopefully not enough for people not to think about getting the next Rainbow Six game.

Why do people act like FPS games are the only ones with multiple entries? Like there haven't been a crapload of RPGs, Sports games, puzzle games, racing games, action games, RTS, etc?

You might make an arguement for FPS games getting more hype lately, but that's about it. Like everyone swears the 360 has nothing but FPS games when there's only been about 15 or so released in 2 years (which is probably more than the Wii and PS3 put together). You really wanna put that up against other genres and act like FPS games are anywhere close to flooding the market?

I think this is a new arguement. There's been enough for sports games to not care anymore. As well as action and RPGs. Though I don't really know about racing and puzzle games.

Yeah it's because thats what the majority of Online console gamers play and companys are just throwing FPS in the pot just to get there side of the action. I know it sucks but Haze might be ok I think.

I completely agree. I'd like to see more third-person games coming out. Fortunately, Gears Of War 2 will be released this year.

Back on topic, this HAZE game looks like just one more FPS. It has great graphics, sure. But I'd have to see the game's features in order to know if it's worthy of the bucks it's going to cost.

Its also Multiplayer on the PSN. I don't know the whole story on it but you play as a Mantel troop and you have to fight against Rebels. Aparently the character gets kidnapped by the rebels and decides to fight with them against Mantel. I guess their cause it better.

But Mantel has this drug called Nectar which you can inject into your body and you move faster and can see your enemies behind walls. The Rebels can play dead when you're being shot at and they have a knife where if you walk over a dead Mantel soldier it gets covered with Nectar and you can throw it at the Mantel troops, not sure what it does. And the Rebels can make nades with Nectar and use it against Mantel soldiers to cause a Nectar overdose and they go crazy and shoot at their own comrades. You will be able to utilize all these capabilites on Multiplayer also.
