Greetings fellow Marvel Fans, a particular question came to mind after seeing the villains hired by the Hood during The Trust arc of the New Avengers. I'm just wondering, is it just me or does anyone else think S.H.I.E.L.D. seems to keep turning a blind eye to the Wrecking Crew's numerous escapes? How do they keep sneaking out of prison? They've been locked up repeatedly by several super heroes including, but not limited to, the first New Avengers, Toxin, Omega Flight, and now potentially the second New Avengers. Those guys seem to get out of Federal Prison faster than Paris Hilton after a D.U.I. What's the reason? Crappy underpaid security? Underdeveloped prison system? Or are they just flat out lucky? What do you all think?

Honestly? Because they're just too danged powerful to keep locked up.

(Admittedly, I'm biased, because I love the Wrecking Crew.)

Seriously, though- the only times these guys have been kept out of action for any length of time are those periods when they've had their powers taken away from them (an event which, fortunately, has not happened in quite some time, and which I hope doesn't occur again.)

They've got the strength and invulnerability of standard Asgardian gods, along with other assorted quirky powers- so it would be like trying to keep Fandral or Volstagg or Hogun locked up in prison.

Now, if they'd lock them up in 42, that would quite likely be another story (depending on whether the Wrecker's still able to use his crowbar to teleport- I haven't seen him do it in a while).

For whatever reason, though- despite creating the 42 prison for the purpose of locking away superpowered threats in the Negative Zone, it only seems to be used for superheroes, not villains (and thus, is largely pointless).

But that's my suggestion. These guys tend to get jobbed, and pulled out of every writer's butt anytime they need a quick couple of thugs to have the heroes trample, but bear in mind that they are always getting beaten by superheroes, not ordinary cops (with the exception of Code: Blue, who were only ever able to beat them when either Thor was around or the Crew's powers were on the wane).

It can't be easy to keep them locked up.

4 guys with super strength.

that would be hard to lock up.
