for some of us the holiday season means a little extra disposable income, which for me (and i assume many of you all) means more comics. kinda went all out this year and i thought id share in my joy with you:
the fantastic four omnibus vols. 1-2: that's sixty+ issues of awesome
jack kirby's fourth world omnibus vol. 1: can't wait to break into this one. read the 1st issue and i'm intrigued.
el eternauto: an argentinian comic strip (untranslated) that i've never heard of before (it was a gift). its 50 years worth of material... with my spanish skills thats pretty daunting.
devil dinosaur 1-9: found this on an ebay auction and couldnt pass it up. what can i say? i likes my kirby.
filled in my missing issues of immortal iron fist, which makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, as well as young avengers with the 2nd trade paperback.
how about y'all? any exciting new purchases?

At the moment I got copies of the whole Annihilation series (Loved all three), Avengers: Kree-Skrull War (where I'm now convinced Carol Danvers is a Skrull), and Irredeemable Ant-Man Vol. 2 (Very funny).
Hopefully by January I'll also buy more of the Initiative Titles including
Moon Knight Vol. 2, New Warriors Vol. 4, and the New Avengers: Illuminati. I can't wait for Jan. so I can spend my well deserved holiday dough on those.

The Walking Dead vol 4 and vol 5 TPBs
Jonah Hex issues 14-20
The Darkness Vol 3 issue 1
It cost me more money than i planned but it gives me alot of joy and entertainmet catching up to my fav series with trades :)

i've been thinking about trying to pick up the annihilation series, but i'm a little wary 'cause there are so many issues. did you go for the big hardcover ones or the TPBs?

I got the TPBs because in my opinion they give it more of a "comic-like" feel to it as compared to the HC's, not to mention they were significantly cheaper. They're each about $25 a piece as compared to the $35 for HC's, buying all three as TPBs was like saving an extra $30. All the better for me to buy the Kree Skrull War.

I can't say enough good things for the first anniliation event. I ended up getting the 2nd and 3rd in hardcover. Sadly the first was sold out.
My next buy I think far as big thing is going to be a few more essentials. They look pretty good lined up.

I didn't go crazy...only spent about $60 on a few trades/hc:
Avengers/Defenders War (HC)
Universe X - Book 1 (TPB)
Universe X - Book 2 (TPB)
Will read Universe X as soon as I bring myself to read Earth X...which I've had for a year, but haven't touched yet.

Same here, got some extra cash to spend, I was thinking about maybe getting Call of Duty 4, or The Orange box, or the Witcher for my PC but just couldn't resist getting myself some superheroes action instead.
Bought the Dark Tower and Ultimates 2 HC recently. Half way through Dark Tower, not really liking it that much, maybe I was expecting too much cos of all the hype. Ultimates 2, on the other hand, I simply cannot put down the book. I stayed up till 4 in the morning reading the book, it is very good indeed. Even though I've got The Ultimates 1 all on tpb, I think I'm going to have to buy the HC as well to go with this amazing Vol.2 HC.
Planning on buying the Captain America Omnibus Vol.1 and the Immortal Iron Fist paperback, but I need some advice on this before making any purchases. The omnibus costs quite a lot so do you guys think it's worth it? I don't read anything from the 616 universe except Daredevil, so is there a lot crossing over with other events happening in 616 or is the book pretty much self contained? Same question for Iron Fist, I don't really know much about the guy, is that gonna stop me from enjoying the book?

Are the omnibus collection for the old Cap and IF ? Not the vols of the latest runs with Bru?
I havent read Cap or IF pre Brubaker so i cant help you out if you are asking about an old collection with those two heroes.

Oh no sorry I was asking about the Omnibus collecting Ed Brubaker's run, Captain America #1-25 and the 65th anniversary Winter Soldier:Winter Kill and lots of extra apparently. Is it worth the cash?

Absolutely worth it! Don't miss it. Brubaker reads best in trades and his Cap stuff is truly excellent. Iron Fist is very good, too. The paperback isn't too expensive. And you might want to try Criminal, too, if you like crime stories.

el eternauto: an argentinian comic strip (untranslated) that i've never heard of before (it was a gift). its 50 years worth of material... with my spanish skills thats pretty daunting.
I've always wanted to read this series, but I can't find an english translation anywhere, and my Spanish skills are nonexistent.
Anyway, it was all Fantastic Four for me this christmas. I have FF Omnibus Vol. 2, which is amazing (I too love my Kirby). I also picked up Ultimate FF HC's 1&2, which I found quite enjoyable.
A friend gave me EC Archives: Weird Science.

Right definitely buying that Omnibus then. I was gonna get it anyway, just needed to hear other people's opinion to justify my purchase:p
Ah reading your pull list reminded me to get Walking Dead Book 3 as well, it says on Amazon the book was out on 19th Dec, but I can't find it anywhere, none in shops and unavailable in UK websites.
Heard a lot of nice things about Criminal, I haven't really given any crime stories a try so I might start with that. But it's an on-going series, I'm more into books that have a definite end with a cinematic feel to them, that's why I like the Ultimates so much.
Edit:Just looked up Criminal on the web, turns out the two arcs are both self-contained, with some connections. Read a few preview pages and I like the story-telling, maybe I'll buy it........hmm maybe I will........Just too darn many good books out at the moment, so hard to make a decision.
