This issue was very good. Really reminds me of something Dwayne Mcduffie would write. The art was spectacular and the dialogue was good. I was glad how much emphasis was placed on the Sue and Thing personal interactions. This issue showed a lot more personal interactions between the two which we don't usually see in the main book. Also the interactions between Torch and Thing were great. All the characters seemed like they were who they were supposed to be. Anyway in this issue the Thing goes on vacation to Puerto Rico secretly. Sue and Johnny persuade Reed to follow Thing to find out where he went. So eventually the team faces the Mole Man and an army of his chupacabras. This is really a feel good family type FF story. Also like how emphasis of the story was placed as part of the plot. Such as Reed commenting about mosquitoes, Johnny being told not to flame up so they don't destroy the forest, and the Thing commenting about not wanting to destroy the stalactites. This was a great issue and I'd like to see the main series have this type of feeling when reading it in the future. If you are a Fantastic Four fan get this book you will enjoy it a lot.

It was a cute little issue. Beland hit all the right notes (particularly with Ben) and Doe's art was, as you say, spectacular.

I enjoyed it quite a bit as well. Sue confessing that Ben is sort of an oasis for her (in terms of men in her life... Reed, Johnny, and Namor all having massive egos...) was pretty cool and well written. She pointed out that Ben had every reason to go all Dr. Doom with his transformation, yet he was humble enough to learn to roll with the punches and play with the hand he was dealt.
I also enjoyed the few moments such as Reed correcting Johnny when he mentioned that Ben was probably kickin' back and eating tacos (this is Puerto Rico, not Mexico). And Ben giving Johnny grief over being unable to say "chupacabras". As in, "it's not difficult if you actually try to say a spanish word". Probably because it bugs me when I observe this stuff in real life.
In trying to make a few discretionary budget decisions, I didn't think I would pick this up. I mean, it wasn't going to affect a major storyline in any way, I felt. Once in the shop though, I did. I'm really glad I did. A very entertaining one shot!

I enjoyed The Issues A lot The art was a bit etchy but the story was very well written.I especially enjoyed the interaction between Ben and Sue The Chupicabras were cool also and it was nice to see moleman again. A great One shot almost felt like reading an annual.

These people were unbelievably patient all day long. It was a long day and it rocked like you can't imagine. Every customer was buying six books at a time and it was an amazing experience. We were signing books from 10am till 7pm and we'll be there for another two hours on Sunday. Whew. Tired, but it's a good tired.

Excellent read! I'm not really a FF fan, but I loved the interaction between Ben and the others. The story was fun and the art was cool. The writer was able to seamlessly include the setting (Puerto Rico) into the story.
I'm going to try to buy it tomorrow, I was working all this week (except on Christmas Day) so I couldn't get it before. I've stopped buying comics regularly (they depress me these days, honestly) but things like this me draw me back, and not just because I live in Puerto Rico.
Tom, glad to see you post here, and to hear how well the comic is being received in the island and elsewhere. The Fantastic Four are my among my favorite heroes (or they are when they're not whining) and having you write one of their stories was a stroke of genius. Here's hoping you'll get lots more "mainstream" comics work! :)

Thanks, man! I was having a horrible time logging onto this board, but now that's been fixed, so I can post again.
I think you'll love the issue, for the very reason you left comics. This has no ties to any of the crossovers and it's really a feel-good story.
I'm writing some Marvel Adventures: Spider-Man stories in 2008 and some possible fun projects too. I'm looking to team-up with Juan again, for sure. He did an amazing job.
Thanks everyone for the nice words! Hey, even GREG liked most of the book!!! lol. THAT should say something.

I thought it was a lot of fun. Loved the adventurous feeling of the series. It felt a little like a travelogue for Puerto Rico here and there, but not in a distracting way. The art was great as well.
Lots of fun.
Finally Fantastic Four written right.

I have only leafed through it so far, won't have time to read it until tomorrow... but I really, really love that art. I really love it when people really do something different, and this is really different, and really bold... and I just love it.

I loved it! The character interactions were perfect and it was a nice break from all the insanity that's been happening in the universe lately.
